got tickets for leigh and warrington. leigh my home game so way i missed that

4 of us going.

Whatever the side is i'm sure we'll take a good following.

Me + 1 planning to make the short trip. Not been to the new ground in Leigh before.

I'll be going plus another two with me.

Me + 3. Couldn't make the Wakey game so this and Warrington are definites!

Sound like it'll be a decent enough turnout from us. The question is how many Leythers will turn up? The friendly last year wasn't anywhere near a sell out which I found strange seeing as it was their first game at the new stadium. Think we did our bit and nearly filled the away end.

I think a lot of Leythers need a bit of convincing that they are not going to get the dross of last season served up again. Even though we got thumped by Warrington there are some good signs. Also a few have a problem with the £14 ticket price for a friendly. I think it could have been £12 but they have to pay the LSV the same rent. A lot also have a problem with the quality and price of the food and drink inside so be warned. Hopefully the fact that Wigan are coming will entice a few more of us. See you all on sunday.

Heard about the rent your having to pay previously. Wasn't it so much that the club shop had to move from the stadium? Shocking. Remember walking round it last year before the friendly and being very impressed with it and the range of merchandise you had. At the time it certainly put our efforts to shame.

The pies & booze were expensive too but I can't see that having changed over the past 12 months.

Pies are actually 5p cheaper, booze is still the same price though (hope they've ordered more this week as the North Stand was drunk dry on Sunday!)

Don't think I'll be making this trip, got a hard uni exam the next day and it's only an academy friendly from the sound of it. I wish the dates for the friendlies were the other way round though as not many will be able to make it to Warrington on a Wednesday.

The shop was run by the kit manufacturer, Oneills. They decided that it wasn't profitable so pulled out. Matt they maybe 5p cheaper but are no where near the quality of the ones at HP.

Ordered tickets for my daughter and me today - £41 for 2 pre-season "nothing" matches, within 3 days of each other.

It's not going to keep me away, but come on.... It's bl00dy expensive.

Can anyone recall our last "home" friendly at Orrell a couple of years back? Wasn't it about £5 for adults and £2 for kids?

I know we can't fit many in, but surely a packed Orrell would be better than a mostly empty, bigger stadium? (Plus it would give us a "home" match)

Their thinking may well be that demand for friendlies is fairly cost inelastic (i.e the people who bother going to friendlies are die-hards who will go almost regardless of price), and running costs will still be similar to a normal game. However, if they sold tickets to friendlies cheap they may be able to attract new fans, who may prove valuable as some may then like what they see and decide to buy season tickets. It depends whether the increase in market share would be worth the opportunity cost of reducing ticket prices.

Ticket prices are all about economics, the poster at the top mentions what they 'should' charge as though it's a moral obligation, but at the end of the day the goal of Wigan RL is to make profit for the shareholders, not to get high attendances or win trophies, they are just bi-products.
