Good news, backs up my theory that Lenegan is planning some major recruitment for the 2011 season, interestingley no 1 year deal for Bailey which it would of made sense to announce them altogether, personally dont think he's getting one.

Phelps has impressed in recent weeks, good move. This one year deal for Coley should keep him on his toes seeing as he's only really performed to his full potential in the last year of his contract.

If we're to sign anybody from overseas somebody will have to make way and it looks like being between Bailey and Carmont.

I'd keep Carmont by a distance tbh.

If to bring in one more overseas player for next year we have to loose either Carmont or Bailey surely it's a no brainer that Baileys got be the one that goes. We have far more depth in the backrow than at centre plus George's contribution on the left in attack is immense.

Not according to what was said last time we had this discussion because Smith's exit has already been confirmed. So on quota next year would be Bailey, Roberts, Phelps and Riddell. So one quota slot still left if Bailey re-signs.

Bailey also comes off the non-fed list and also based on my understanding of what was said last time this was discussed, our non-fed players would therefore just be Roberts, Riddell and Phelps.

Players who I thought were not on the overseas quota but who were classed as non-fed: Carmont, Feka and Richards, apparently are all already non-fed players.

Have I missed anyone out!?

So I think that means we could sign a further three non-fed players one of whom could be a quota player if Bailey stays. Two of the three could be quota if he leaves.

In we did do that then given in 2011 the non-fed quota drops to 5 one of the six would have to leave

I think that is right but it is very confusing.

If Fielden is still on contract next year and now Coley is staying are we going to sign the world class prop everyone knows we need?

I can't see Feka going (nor would I want him to) which just leaves the option of Prescott going on loan but is putting Prescott on loan with his salary going to leave any space on the cap for this world class prop we need? Absolutely not IMO.

2010 to be another season of mediocrity methinks.

It shows how far Wigan have fallen when Wigan fans are rejoicing at the contract extensions of 2 very average players. They arent exactly going to take you on to the next level and wouldn't get in any of the top teams. It is a very poor move on your part.

You need to see the bigger picture, and also take into account existing contracts, quotas and - the one thing that really will elude a Salford fan - the bringing through of younger players.

Contrary to what you may have been force-fed during you years of anti-Wigan resentment, advancement in RL is not all about signing two or three of the biggest names on the planet every year.

Anyway, keep kidding yourself that Wigan have fallen a long way - it will certainly take your mind off the imminent disappearance of Salford beneath a pile of chemical-infected Manchester mud that never will be built on again.

You would have to assume O'Carroll would go out on loan and not merely be dumped in the reserves.

I would hope Griffin wouldnt make Prescott automatic 5th choice either - as for Griffin - is that a done deal?

I've seen the site for the Salford ground and even a planned racecourse.

What a fantastic site! - only problem is where is your ground and when will it be there? Will it beat the grounds of Leigh, Widnes, Toulouse or Halifax to the 'nod' of the RFL......if so, can you regularly get a decent crowd in there?

I'd sacrifice Bailey and add his money to Hocks to bring in 2 forwards especially considering Coley can go into the backrow if needs be.

According to others yes - all I know is that we have been in discussions with Huddersfield re Griffin but had not heard that he had signed.
