TBF Hayne has had a good season with the Eels, and a good WC with Fiji. As for Myler god knows.

| Fair play to Sam Tomkins, he has come out on top against the best 7 (Thurston) and 6 (Marshall) in the last two weeks.

Hmmm, Thurston destroyed us in the first half against Oz, think it's a bit of a stretch saying Sam came out on top.

And ruffled Marshalls feather into the bargain
Whilst on the subject of Marshall am i on my own in thinking he's quite over-rated?
He has had a poor series for me and was poor in the world cup up until the second half of the final iirc. He's a case of a mans reputation outgrowing his actual ability if ever there was one.
I'd still rather have Lockyer.

I think you may be. Hayne, Slater and a few others haven't had a great 4 Nations, but I'd still put them up there with the best in the world.

I just don't see it with Marshall tbh.
He's a decent player no doubt about it but i've never seen him have a game where he's ripped a team apart on his own like a Slater, Hayne or Inglis can do.
He seems a very inconsistant player to me but the way alot of people seem to rate him you'd think he was having a career that could rival a Lockyer, Johns, Fittlers, Lewis's etc.

That's it for me, the guy on his day is as good as anyone but those days are few and far between.
He has suffered a lot of injury's in his career so no doubt that has contributed somewhat but still to be considered one of the greatest players around consistency has to be considered and sadly for him he lacks it.

Plenty but granted mainly on the tv.
He's had his flashes of brilliance and is without doubt a good player but he's still over-rated. He isn't in the class of Lockyer, Johns, Fittler, Daley etc.

| he may not but considering he had the greatest season last year its a bit unfair to call h im over rated hes had trouble with injuries which has caused him trouble and yes heaps of pressure been put on him , and sheens tactic of give the ball to benji and do something. I just think that he has fully deserved his award this year

Injuries have possibly held him back a little. Has he lost abit of pace?
He doesn't seem to have that speed off the mark he had when he first burst onto the scene.
I'm not bashing him just for the sake of it. I just feel he's over-rated by alot of fans over here. We'll knock our own lads at the drop of a hat yet build up guys like Marshall into gods when in truth they aren't that much greater then some of the players we have to offer.

i dont think its him losing its his pace i think hes been moulded in to more of a play maker at wests due to a lack of a quality partner. i agree that people over here have held him a god probably due to them only believing in the marshall magic era which was back when he had scotty prince which obv made it a tad easier for him and allow his running game to flow

His game definitely seems to have changed from the early days.
If only he still had Pat Richards to make him look good like in the grand final of 2005
