Is it just me or do any other fans think it is time for Lockers to bow out?, his appearances have been getting less and less every season due to his body getting frail, his performances have also been below par, we can not afford to keep carrying him because of sentiment, look what happened with Scully at Saints, what a joke that turned out to be, come on Sean do the club and fans a favour and call it a day, like your Brother in Law did, it's a good move for everyone, we cut your wage bill, you take up the assistant coach job and get no more injuries, John Bateman takes over your position freeing up a place in the pack and we either promote from within or sign a top NRL player.

So you would be happy to see him get injured after 2 games next season, be out for 3 months in which time we learn how to play without him, only for him to come back into the side and disrupt things to the point we start losing games then after a 4 or 5 game losing streak he gets injured again and we go through the same process having already been dumped out of the Challenge Cup, no ta, not for me, have the decency to call it a day when your body is telling you to.

If he does get injured and has to spend an extended time on the sidelines, then he might decide enough is enough. But I'd rather have half a SOL directing traffic than two Matty Smiths. There's no reason to suppose he's suddenly made of balsa-wood or he'll fold up after 20 minutes on the park.
He's got a lot of stick in the past (especially in the early days, when he was anonymous a lot of the time), but I don't think there are too many more committed squad members in the pack now or in recent years.

He's done 21, 23 and 19 games in the last three seasons. Many of the games he missed were when we rested him against lower opposition. His contribution isn't as great as it was five years ago but I'd still rate it well above that of his backrow partner Joel Tomkins. I'm guessing the plan is for this year to be his last anyway with Bateman taking over at loose.

It's no coincidence IMO that our 4 props started to look the part towards the latter end of the season when Sean was putting in the full 80, or damn near it. He is crucial to us for the next 2 seasons.

There are actually plenty of others, they just won't type it on here in fear of getting chastised by various certain posters and members of the big clique

Getting injured is part of RL. What makes you think that John Bateman won't get injured after two games and be out for the rest of the season?

The Cliques are there and they have been there since the first time i joined 10 years ago, it's not just me, others know it as well, some have been banned for questioning them on here, others simply don't post any more because of it, only members of a clique claim that said clique does not exist

Lets get this straight once and for all - NOBODY has EVER been banned for questioning any mythical "clique" or "cliques". The usual rubbish spouted by people previous banned for breaking the AUP (which is the only way peolpe can be banned).

I was on here 10 years ago for around a year, i then left the UK to work in Honduras, then El Salvador, then Mongolia, after 4 years of next to no internet access i returned home and created a new screen name as i had forgotten the last one, this happened again when i left the uk for Zamboanga, i returned at the end of March, has that cleared it up for you, those banned where before your time as a mod

I wouldn't say he should step down from Wigan. However he should've stepped down from England duty. It did wonders for Peacock to call it quits and have a longer off season.

I think he'll retire if we win the GF next year.

I think getting the captaincy this late in his career has probably stopped him doing that. He shouldn't have played last year IMO and missed the first game of the four nations. This year he's fit to play but hasn't been at his best but when you're captain your selection is a given and he does tend to lift in the bigger games.

ultimately we don't have too many options to replace him. If Sam Burgess was still in league I think he could take the 13 shirt and the captaincy but other then him we're probably looking at the same player taking over from him both at Wigan and with England and that's John Bateman. I'd like to see him gradually take over the role at Wigan and then with England (the position not the captaincy...yet).

I can't believe any Wigan fan would want SOL to retire. Beyond his obvious work rate, he makes your attacking structure much more efficient. Without SOL playing, Smith goes to first receiver. With SOL, he's first, then your halves, then your fullback if you have the room for a 4th second man play. For a start, that's one more decision the defence has to make. SOL is also a running threat which keeps the defence more honest than if Smith was first receiver because he will rarely run the ball. Furthermore, because of his size, generally the defending team have to commit two men to him in an attempt to stop a quick PTB, which gives you a 2 man overlap if you get your numbers right (the 2nd man committed to SOL and the defending fullback not being in the line).
