| He looks like he can shift. There a few instances when he really looked quick. I don't blame him for the foot in touch, I want wingers who have the confidence to go for it.
Very impressed, be good to see him outside a centre who can hold the ball.

| is it me or do the players looks a lot slimmer and not as muscular lately? a full season in the first grade and the off season to put some size on and he should be a keeper.

| Pat has been great and we shouldn't expect a like for like replacement (kicker/winger) but Burgess looks a good option as a replacement winger for next season.

| Though he made a great debut to be honest. Didn't do anything wrong really and looked strong and quick.

| Looked awesome, couldn't believe he's on debut! Him and Gelling could make a great partnership going forward if we don't sign Briscoe

| He had a good game, as did Hampshire again. I remain unconvinced about Gelling, still too many mistakes.

| He's a chip off the Charnley block in many ways. Thing with kids is that being great in the academy is one thing, but you can never really tell until they are playing with a crowd on their back. Mentally I thought he handled it superbly.

| Had a great game. So unlucky not to score with his foot just in touch.
Might need to work on his 'chip overs' but the idea was right.
Ideal replacement for Pat IMO.

| I think he did everything that could be expected of him. His defence was excellent, Craig Hall is no mug or slouch and Burgess more than held his own against him. He was unlucky not to score two tries but it must also be acknowledged that Eden did really well to make that tackle.

| Agree with all the comments on this thread.
Impressed by the lad, let's see how his temperament is if he makes a mistake, that's when we'll get a better assessment of his game.

| A very good debut from Burgess. He looks a real flyer and has a great build on him him where he can put on a lot of size and strength. He is only 18 after all and will get much better.

| Good debut. solid and looked at home. Nice that more of the 'home grown' backs are getting game time.
Dom Manfredi is another who I think could cut the mustard (did well in the pre-season). These 2 are going to put serious pressure on Gelling/Thornley next season for the 'utility' position, as both have played along the centre line.

Agreed, that left centre position is one that needs filling. Eventually I see Oliver Gildhart being "the man" but he's still only sixteen years of age.
Last night I think Hampshire could have cut inside when he gave Charnley the ball and Dobson just tackled him, but both he and Burgess are still rookies, their time will come.
I've a feeling that Rob Lever and Manfredi may be the next ones to get a 1st team game.

| I had doubts over Burgess becuase he had uncle Clarkey promoting his name/brand, however the lad played very well last night. He needs a variation in side steps, and even tho his chip kick didnt pay off he showed he can play with a feedom and that seems to be missing in a lot of modern day wingers. One of Pats strengths his is little kicks with either foot so he's learning from the master. Now we need to see his bounceback-ability when he makes a mistake or two, will a dropped bomb defusal knock his confidence? we shall wait and see, I think he'll pass with flying colours

| He was excellent.
Did right IMO going for the corner as I like wingmen who'll take on the opposition round the outside. Great run from him and a great try saver from Eden.
I did like his recovery to turn and run down Hall then tackle him into touch. He recovered well from him and Gelling being done by Gleeson.
With Pat going and Sam very likely to, we have repalcements who are very fast indeed. Our 3/4 back three of say Charnley, Hampshire and Burgess are lightning quick and can turn and catch players who have made a break against us.
Would be very comfortable with him replacing Pat next year.

Well done!

| I was quite concerned with the way he got sucked in and allowed Hall a few metres down the touch line. He will be punished for that against better sides. Having said that, being sucked in seems to be a problem on both fringes with Charnley making his fair share of poor defensive reads. It seems to be something Wane is failing to address. Have faith in your inside man!

| Give Gleeson some credit here, he ran between Gelling and Burgess then offloaded to Hall.
Hall is quick and Burgess caught him in 20-25 mtrs.
There won't be many SL wingmen he can't catch.

Rogues, you mentioned Rob Lever and Manfredi as the next two who may get a 1st team game. What have these two got to offer from what you've seen.
