| Wigan Warriors have today named their 19 man squad that will face St Helens at the DW Stadium, this Good Friday, 12.15pm.
With the likes of Lee Mossop, Harrison Hansen, Gil Dudson and Anthony Gelling all still missing through injury it's a similar squad to the one that figured in the 62-4 success over Widnes with the Warriors expecting to name the same seventeen.
There were a couple of knocks from the Vikings game but the Warriors are hopeful that the players concerned Sean O'Loughlin and Michael McIlorum will be fine for the huge local derby.
Wigan Warriors 19 Man Squad
(In alphabetical order)
Greg Burke, Josh Charnley, Dom Crosby, Liam Farrell, Ben Flower, Darrell Goulding, Blake Green, Jack Hughes, Rhodri Lloyd, Michael McIlorum, Sean O'Loughlin, Pat Richards, Tom Spencer, Matty Smith, Scott Taylor, Iain Thornley, Logan Tomkins, Sam Tomkins, Chris Tuson
Referee - Richard Silverwood.

We are missing our first choice FB, halves and hooker, whereas you have all yours playing.
Can't see anything other than a Wigan win, regardless of the fact that it's a derby.

Like it or not but Paul Wellens is your first choice full back. Just because YOU wouldn't pick him there.
If we're playing that game then we're missing our first choice full back and stand off because I'd ratber play Pat at 1 and Sam at 6.

Nathan Brown after the Wire game said that Lomax was going to be the 1st choice FB from now on and Wello was likely to play at LF.

And we are missing FOUR prop forwards.
Remember 2003?
First choice halves?
Who would that be?
First choice fullback?
Lomax has only played there when Wellens was unavailable.

We will be without 4 of our 6 senior props. Perry, LMS, Lafranci and Walmsley really ought to outmuscle Flower, Taylor, Crosby and Burke, games aren't won on paper but I'd only call us slight favourites

| Without the bickering it's true we have 1, 6 and 9 missing. At the moment Wilkin is first choice scrum half (available) and Lomax is first choice Full back (unavailable). The loss of Roby needs no discussion, that's obviously a huge loss.
I'm looking forward to seeiing how it will go, we're missing our main creative players and attacking threats (including TP). However, you're missing your main grunt men which provides go forward to get in those good positions.
It's an interesting conundrum really, will we win the forward battle but not be able to do anything with the possession? Will you lose the battle up front but be able to score that game winning try through the use of your creative and attacking players?
Either way let's hope for a top game of Rugby League and a bouncing atmosphere.

You used Perry and outmuscle in the same sentence?
I am not doubting that you are also missing players, but I think you'd agree that you'd rather be injury hit up front rather than in all your key positions?

We should - We've got a heavy back row these days, too, with Soliola, Manu and Flash.. Two thing may/will/could stand in the way of this a)over the last couple of seasons you've completely out enthused us in the derby and b)with no recognised hooker, I worry that poor dummy half service will negate our extra strength.
A really don't know what'll happen. I've got a bad feeling it won't go our way, but nerves before the derby are what it's all about!!

I can't comment on Perry because I don't watch Saints week in week out, a player of his standing should be showing his worth in a game like this though. It depends how you look at it with regards to who I'd rather lose, it's very tough for halves to do anything behind a beaten pack

| Wigan are missing the four props plus Hansen and Hock from the 2nd row.
OK Hock is on loan but he was included in the squad for 2013 and his wages counted against the salary cap. When he went made it imposiible to bring a player in of a similar ability.
Saints, as has been said, have a massive loss being without Roby. Maybe it was intended Lomax would play but perhaps he's had a problem with the injury during the week.
Interesting that Saints fans talk about their team being outenthused in recent derbies.
It looks like another great atmosphere with Wihan almost sold out this morning. Any news on how many tickets Saints have unsold, if any?

I'd estimate about 1,000 left by now after recent news releases. Disappointing at this stage but I think sales will pick up over the next couple of days. I think the weather has put a few off and it won't be a sell out from our end but there should only be a couple of hundred left I would think.

Disappointing from our end that, it's usually full to the brim with Saints fans. However, I do feel the weather is probably the reason this year. For me Good Friday away is as much of a day out as it is a game and I do much prefer it when it's nice and warm. I think it was the 2011 match where it was scorching hot? Great day despite the loss.

Who's likely to play at 9 for you then?
I know our forwards are heavily depleted, but I was told that Warrington's pack would put us out of the game and that never materialised, so I'm not going into the game all doom and gloom.
Both teams have significant gaps in them compared to what first choice would be, and regardless of that I'd expect another cracker.

Ashe started against Salford at 9 and is in the squad again, but he was a bit laboured. Speakman, who has not made the squad this week, looked a lot brighter when he came off the bench. Flanaghan is touted as being able to play hooker and some have suggested Wello for the role, although I remain unconvinced.
