Goodbye Knowsley Road.



That Edington stand has holds 25 years worth of some of my best memories and atmospheres that I'll ever witness.

I'm going to miss the place.

Wigans 5 - 4 win in the tryless Lancashire Cup final was one of my all time favourite games.

I played in the Curtain raiser against Wigan Schoolboys for that game. Was amazing

I'm gutted, my favourite away ground by far.

I'm definitely going to miss going there. It may well be a dump but I've had some very good memories from there.

It's going to be a very emotional night tomorrow with myself and my fellow Saints fans in the old girl for the very last time.
There are strong rumours going around St.Helens that we might be playing you guys in a friendly on Boxing day,personally I hope not as for me I want the very last Saints match to mean something.
Not being disrespectful to you guys it just would not be the same playing Wigan in a friendly for her last match.

Awesome place to watch rugby league, yes its a dump but its a throwback to the old days and for us wiganers the old days were the best of lifes.

I shall miss my visits to knowsley rd. My 3 main memories are hammering them in a cup replay on the night england fans rioted at lansdowne road, simon haughton ripping them apart in a huge win in 97 and then obviously the 75-0 defeat! It was painful beyond belief but id like to think we'll look back on it with a little smie on our faces in the future. I know it wont be far from my mind if we lift the trophy at old trafford a week on saturday!

Have to admit I will miss going there.

Great old ground even if it is falling down.

From sunny Good Fridays to skidding down the ramp at the back as a kid on Boxing Days.

Amazing memories. I don't want them to move. Love the place. If Latics go bust before it gets knocked down, shall we steel the away end and put it where the south stand is

I feel for the Saints fans this weekend, I know when I sat there on the steps of the Popular stand after the last game at Central park it was a truly emotional occasion. I know its a shed and many saints fans will be glad to see it go but when its gone its gone and when all your left with is the memories. Its hard not to miss the amazing times you spent there.

I don't really like the DW, yes the facilities are great but until this year with the flags, its been completly souless, part of that for me is the lack of standing area and the lack of real atmosphere. I am one who likes to stand near the singers and buzz off the atmosphere, it just doesn't happen for me at the DW.

Maybe along with a Flag club.. we could look at a singing/ atmosphere club were we could get say a band on the go. Trumpet player/ drums etc.. just like they do in the south stand at leeds.

I will also miss going there, great memories! I'll miss standing in a space you can't fit in but not caring as you was watching the best derby in RL. I'll miss hugging strangers stood around you just because your all together, against the enemy. I'll miss going there expecting to lose, and then pulling off a surprise result! I'll miss seeing moments such as Pongia's chip to Carney, or Cunnigham's tackle on Mark Smith in front of our eyes. It was a dump, the enemies dump, but winning there was moments to remember. The pandemonium when Feka went over this year showed how much winning there meant to us.

At the end of the day - who gives a monkeys about facilities. You go to RL ground to be as close to the action as possible - so you can hear the players bones crunching as they go in to a tackle and hear the crowd getting on top of the players and the opposition fans.

It's a big shame one of the last proper RL grounds is going under the bulldozer for an identikit stadium - the biggest shame wil be all the young fans who are yet to start watching the game will soon never get the chance to watch a game as it should be watched, standing up on a steep terrace.........

Not strictly true as our new ground will have standing at both ends.

I'll miss the atmosphere on derby day (but not the facilities)!

Lets be honest, its a dump! But it created one of an atmosphere when 5000 Wiganers packed into that end.
