But the Headingley train station is the closest one to the ground? We are driving up from Coventry Saturday lunchtime, then parking in city centre and getting train from there. Are most Wigan fans getting the train from city centre to Headingley? Also as someone mentioned any pubs near to the ground (friendly ones)?

No, nearest one is Burley Park station, Headingley station is nowhere near Headingley, it's almost in Kirkstall.
Best bet is to drink in town, then get the train to Burley Park & walk to the ground.
Good places in town are:

we are going to get in City Centre around 1.30ish. perfect organisation by one of my mates, just in time for the football lot, we just gonna do a bit of a pub crawl to headingly, think its only a couple of miles away. plenty of beers, hope their is a few bars on the way
