At the end of season presentation, Tomkins awarded both Young player and player of the season, all be it i have no complaints i honestly didn't expect him to recieve both but well done, i had a guess at Tommy.
Lockers got players player as well.

Was it a decent evening? One player shouldn't really be able to win both imo. What got try of the year? My fave was Sams against leeds.

Possibly it's because different groups vote for the two awards.

Am I right in thinking one group is the press?

Speaking to Phil Bailey last night he stated that his contract is now sorted and he has got at least a further year

The con's outweigh the pro's IMO but hopefully the people around the club know better(and they should).

At least we're going into next year with some continuity in playing staff for a change which should really help us make a better start to the season.

We're still in desperate need of a world class prop though.

This was always likely when IL said no new signings. One has to assume its for more resonable terms, but it shows money was available....

You would expect so, I suppose the question is, could that money and our Coley's money have bought us a player that would have improved us.

The Players Player award is the one as a player you always want to win and what a suprise Sean O'Loughlin has won it. Excellent season and IMO should start 13 for England in the 4 Nations over Sinfield!!!!

It was a good little do, it would be really good if they put the films they showed on You Tube or something - the slow motion bit of Joel Tomkins with his gob wide open looking completely gormless was hilarious.

I'm not surprised Sam won both awards to be honest, I think he was by far our best player this year and then for young player it was only Flash and Mossop he was up against (I think) and I know Flash has been great but both haven't really had much game time.

Is Coley leaving you lot or is it just wishful thinking, where's he going?

Just wondered as previously posted on this thread someone stated Coley was freeing money up adn also had there 'next years' squad without him in it.

Coley has re-signed for one year to the end of 2010.

Good to see that those who work so hard behind the scenes get awards too.
George Unsworth's is well deserved.
Brian Foley has been ahead of the times with the projects he has innovated and that have been adopted by the SL and the RFL. I do hope he comes back in some capacity when well enough to do so.

I don't think you'll see too much of an improvement with that team next year - looks the same old story: good backs, not enough in the forwards IMO.

but since thats been the team for the 2nd half of the season we've arguably been the form team in the league, our reckon the second half of the season is very good and if staying with that team means winning the amount of games we have been winning then i'm happy.

The reason i want rid of noble is because of the shocking starts to the season, if we get a new coach/conditioner in hopefully we can get a decent start, because thats all it needs to be, if we're just going to pick up in the 2nd half of the season again.

We are light in the pack, but even so we've beaten most teams the 2nd half of the season.

Why do you never include Fielden in your 17's?

He once through his substitute card on the floor when Grimmy was the interchange referee.

The young lads ie: Mossop, Flanagan and Joel Tomkins all say they have learned more from Bails than anyone.
I personally think it is a good signing, he brings good experience for the young lads and he is someone to look up to. Trent Barrett had the same effect on Sam Tomkins & Lulu.

Personally I would not have given Sam the main award last night! Yes, the Young Player of the Year by a country mile, but I feel that a few other players were more deserving of the main award: O'Loughlin, Phelps, Richards, Carmont spring to mind!
I'm not slating Sam by any means, he has been superb this season and has won us many a game that we have looked like losing! I just feel that some of the aforementioned lads were more deserving!

That said, well done to all winners!
