No. I just don't see why Barrett still gets threads on here when he's not a Wigan player any more, yet other players don't tend to get away with it.

Anyone who thinks Barrett is a legend either has blinkers on, or has not seen any REAL legends.

I seem to remember you throwing a tantrum last time somebody posted a story about Barrett.

Him leaving early certainly took the gloss off his status but he was one of the best imports to play for Wigan which many will remember, certainly the younger generation who never got to see Kenny etc. Fair enough he isn't a Wigan player but he's hardly getting live coverage on here.

tbf mate while legend may be a bit strong Barrett is easily in the top 3 most talented players to play for wigan in the last 10 years!!! Hes an absolute class act, proved it at wigan and continues to prove it in the NRL....watch the origin games if you want any proof of it.

We're bound to talk about him in a favourable light and want to know what hes up to because of what a star he is!

While I wouldnt class him as a legend, I also wouldnt class Brett Kenny as a legend because both were never hear long enough and neither were wigan through and through...a requisite of a legend IMO!! However, it doesnt stop me realising Barrett, along with Kenny was in an elite band of World Class players that I am privelaged to say i have witnessed play and as a fantastic RL player I am bound to, as are other wigan fans, champion him and want to watch him play for other teams, as his RL skills are a pleasure to watch!

couldn't have put it better myself, he's in my top ten to play in the Cheery & White along with the likes of The Black Pearl, Giz, Andy Gregory, Brett Kenny, Gene Miles, Steve Renouf etc

Most on here could probably mention a Top 30 before naming Barrett. Let's not forget for every 3 games he played he'd be Superb in game 1, Average in Game 2, Anonymous in Game 3.

But he always turned up when it mattered.

Plus he carried the team when he was here.

IMO any player who cracks his cheekbone and eye socket and then continues to play until another massive hit forces them off the park deserves a thread of their own.

He's one tough cookie and people like that are what makes our brutal sport so endearing

IIRC was battered every time we played Stains. He did carry the team a lot of the time though.

as for commitment, when people start to call Barrett for handing his notice in after only two years of his three year stint they also seem to forget that Brett Kenny only played for Wigan for five months......

Trent Barrett guided a fairly average Wigan team around the park and put the fear of god up Super League defences, something i won't forget in a short space of time

it's always nice to hear a bit about former players whether they were legends or not ... wonder what Ian Gildart is up to nowadays ?
