Sean Long has been offered 2 deals from super league clubs and none from the NRL.

One of the deals is at Wigan for less than 140k, he would rather come to Wigan than go anywhere else, although he is actually worried how the Wigan fans would accept him and he is also thinking about what the saints fans would think.

His other deal is at Wakefield for more money than he has been offered at Wigan with another £20,000 on the side not included on the salary cap, basically abit of Wakefield dodgy dealing. He does not want to travel and hour and a half to every training session but he obviously prefers the amount of money he would get, and I dont blame him for that, its his job, anyone else would take the offer with more money.

Would you take him at Wigan?

My issue with him isn't that he is Sean Long, rubbed it in every time they beat us and plays for Saints it's more the fact that he is shiite now, 2 years ago yes - Now no.

Exactly what I think. He is not good enough as a player anymore, he is past it.

If we want to sign Lockyer here's what we do.

First get to the challenge cup final, invite him over as our guest and put him and his mrs 1st class all the way and wait on them hand and foot, hopefully the sight of Wigan playing at Wembley in the challenge cup on a hot summers day will be enough for him to want to sign for us and play there himself in 2010

I have no inside sources but the signs add up - Wigan have been after him for the last few years. He stated that he would like to come to SL but would like to be the first player to spend 15 years at one NRL club. His has accomplished that and now is looking to SL. I'm sure out of all the clubs he would come to the only english club auzzies have heard of - the mighty wigan.

But then again, putting Gleeson and Long together again is that a good idea? I know their past is their past, but it's a no for me.

Tell that to Matt Gidley, King, Danny Buderus etc.

We dont sign good players from the NRL. Barrett is the only big star weve attracted in the last 5 years. Carmont, Richards, Bailey, Smith, Riddell would never have been anyones 1st choice on here.

We really need to face facts if Smith goes then we need a scrum half. We either get one from the NRL and that basically means no power house prop or we sign one from the SL. Only Dobson is available and hes either Saints bound or will stay at HKR.

Tomkins and Leuluai is not that great a partnership.

It does seem a plausible idea and there wouldn't be anyone better for Sam to learn off.
Could we get 2 years out of him as he would be 33(?) when he came over?

I like the idea of signing Myler and Long, sending Myler back to Salford on loan, whilst Long gives Tomkins the experience, then two years time, Myler and Tomkins together.... YUM YUM!!!

Would you not rather have Orford for those 2 years instead of Long though?

We cant go with TL and Tomkins. Its an awkward choice:

1. We need a prop more than anything and it needs to be a top rated player not a third or fourth choice. It will take a massive chunk of the cap.

2. Fielden is off contract after next season and Thurston is available. We cant give any player more than 2 years if we are gong to seriously make a move for him. If we get a top prop now it will leave us in a position it use the his wages on Thurston. We still have Feka, Prescott and a new prop. Either have Coley as the 4th prop or sign a similar type player wont cost the earth.

Its a difficult choice we either build a team fro the next 2-3 seasons and by then Hock, Lockers, Prescott, Mcilorum, TL etc will be in their prime or we do as we do panic buy year on year and hope we make top 3.

Myler potentially is a great choice but hes not played in a side with pressure on him.

I would rather do without than sign long
