| According to Paul Cullen on Boots n All.
He sighted Amos Roberts for not telling Fielden where to re-position himself in the line for the first try.
Then for allowing the ball to bounce for the second try.
Your thoughts?
I wasn't at the game but it doesn't sound very convincing from Roberts at fullback.
Pat for fullback (if he's fit) against Castleford?

I wouldnt hesitate to play Richards at full back against Castleford and to keep him there for the rest of the season.

| Apart from that one mistake, Roberts played well at fullback.
He was well positioned through out the game and barely seemed phased by any attacking kicks, he looked very relaxed which is also the reason why they scored. If a good attacking made it over the tryline he grounded the ball well and didn't seem jittery in any shape or form.
In attack he made one break and 30 yards run after collecting the ball on the full and would have raced in had the Hull defender not hung onto his coat tails...And he was regulary in support through the game.
It's Paul Cullen.

| Roberts has been responsible for two of the five tries we've let in so far this season. It's a good job he isn't Richie Mathers otherwise the board would have melted under the bilge.

| Roberts looks short on match fitness but that will come. He made one big error on Friday night and hopefully he'll learn from that but he also came up with some very good bits of play. He swept up a couple of dangerous kicks in the first half against Hull and made a few good runs.
As ever alot of people made judgments on new players far too early. He needs chance to settle in as does Riddell.

Perhaps would of been more sensible to let him settle in on the wing rather than at full back in his second game?

I'd said that in the week leading upto the game because Roberts didn't look fit enough in the Wakey game to be moved to a position where he'd have to do alot more running.
I didn't get why he started there only for us to move Pat there later on and then Goulding.
Nobby needs to pick one on Friday and stick to his call.

I wasn't there on Friday, but can I ask - how was Goulding at fullback?

| I think that 95% of Wigan fans would have put Richards at full-back but Noble seems to think differently.

It's just I had never considered him in that role before. Would free up Noble to play Richards-Carmont-Pryce-Roberts in the threequarters like he wants to in the future if he was any good at it I suppose. Would still rather see him as a regular in the centres tho

Apart from the poor attempt at a cover tackle for the last try.

Against Cusack who is a Prop and almost twice as big as Goulding, and he had the angle on him.

In fairness to Noble Roberts came over with a reputation of being a very good fullback. I think I'm right in saying he played a lot of his games at fullback for Sydney. With this is mind he probably wanted to make use of Richards aerial threat which we did during the match.
[size=59Can't believe I just stuck up for Brian Noble[/size

He did a great impression of a Richie Mathers turnstile tackle to let in one of Hull's tries.

TBH All of our players are when it comes to containing breaks - we need to work on that a LOT. Looking on the superleague website it seems most of our players mess up easy tackles when the opposition get cocky, maybe excluding Hansen, J.Tomkins, Richards?

and he supported a Hock halfbreak up the middle at one point recieving the ball and making plenty of yardage which isn't something we've seen from a Wigan fullback since Ashton left.
He'll do very well in that position in time but for me needs to be eased in from the wing as his fitness needs abit of work.

Paul Cullen spats such anti-Wigan bias it's embarassing to watch. He can't say a good word about us. Although, most people outside of the Wigan club are the same.
