| No complaints here. The NRL is obviously the superior competition. We pushed their champions close - they even had to resort to professional fouls at the end to keep us out.
I really like the way Wigan are progressing under Maguire. Long may it continue.

| yeah no complaints either from me, their backline is frighteningly good, they are the best team in the world and it showed, and it was a close game, enjoyed it.
its only the aussie teams that can beat us anyway, not like some British team will stop us this season now is it!

| Somebody hand Tomkins a tissue.
What is it with Wigan losing finals and tears?
On a serious note, the Aussies have really stepped up in this game over the last few seasons. When we got beat against Manly I was stunned at the Quality of Manly's tries.
It will take a damn good British side to re-take the WCC

| Good effort by Wigan but as much as it hurts me to say it the Aussies are still in a different league. Everything was against the Dragons and they still get the result, they are a class act.

In what sense? Clearly they were in match shape, even if their season hasn't started yet. We're hardly in full flow ourselves, having only played two (away) games.
Flying over from Australia isn't ideal, but it's hardly stacking the deck against them. They're professional sportsmen after all.

I don't think they were fully match fit and that's what scares me. Even without being fully fit and not having played a competitive game they still beat the best we can offer.
I know your guys have only played two games but it's amazing how far a team comes on in a couple of games. Not to mention the travelling, change of climate, playing surface, slightly different interpretation of the rules, home advantage for Wigan and being without their coach.
Not taking anything away from Wigan though, they certainly made a game of it.

| Great effort from Wigan, but St.George are awesome, to come over and beat Wigan in there own back yard, without any league games behind them, or warm up games over here is a brilliant effort.

my god how much do you actually want in your favour?
wigan have played pre season games and also a full hit out against saints and also an away game against the bulls in the sl competition
st george havn't played any competition games, have flown around the world only a week previously, went behind early in tonights game, but still cantered away for an easy win keeping wigan scoreless and on their home ground in the 2nd half?
sounds conclusive to me

| The dragons were much more clinical and certainly executed there plays better than wigan. Wigan seemed to lack the structure that won it last season. it could have been the aussie defence that created that but certainly no discrace.

| Just back in the car. The best team won tonight, their defence was fantastic, anyone who doesn't think the Aussies take the wcc seriously needs to watch that Dragons defence. Morris is quite simply a freak, I knew he was quick but bloody hell! They looked like scoring everytime the ball went down that wing. Thought we played well but just couldn't get through their defence in the second half, we had the chances but they didn't give us an inch. I thought it was a good game of rugby although it may have looked different on tv. I think we would have smashed any superleague team tonight and I look forward to the lads taking their frustration out on Salford!
Easy win for the Dragons? Never in a month of Sundays!!

No it wasn't.
I'm no fan of wigan, thats for sure, but St G were hanging on at the end.
I'm sure if you ask them, that will have been as hard a game as they played in the NRL last season.
You are just an idiot who likes to wind up poms.

| would any sl side have given an aussie side such a game never mind a beating given their preparation if the game was played in oz?
if this fixture was played down under they would beat any sl side by 40 to 50 points easily

| Stop biting at comments that are intended to get a reaction.
FFS we lost to an exceptional side, whose defence is the best ive seen. Not just that but no one has pointed out the players we had missing from that game.
Lima, Finch, Fielden and Pat Richards. Shows strength in the squad when we give the best side in the NRL a run for their money.
Best team won and GL to them in the NRL season.

| Some of the best defence ive ever seen from St George tonight
We can be proud we pushed them close, their 3/4 line blows away anything in the SL. Play like that and we will be back at old trafford come the autumn

St George were by far the better team, absolutely awesome, so no disgrace to Wigan who were well beaten and second half was shut out completely.
I agree with the above, how anyone can say these games are not stacked in the British team's favour is beyond me.
[listThe aussies season does not start for 2 more weeks, whereas the british clubs have already had a couple of games.
The aussies have to travel 24 hours to get here.
The weather conditions are cold, wet and dark and in the british winter whereas the aussies have come from the height of their summer.
The ref is a super league ref and not an NRL ref - so again in the british teams favour.
The ground is the home ground of the british club.
The attendance is 95% in favour of the british team.
[/list:u
Sorry but if it's stacked in anyones favour it ain't the aussies

| absolutely awesome game, im so proud that we were a part of it and pushed them so close. the super league opposition fans giggling at us are just making tits of themselves.
Great effort by every single one of our guys, BMOZ is a monster!!! He was the difference between win and lose today, any other winger Goulding would have been able to handle but he is just unreal!
