| Obviously not in the coaches eyes but I'd be surprised and a bit disappointed not to see him play v Cas or Quins.

| Faz has been carrying a knock, as I understand it...
With 1,002 backrowers i don't see a problem with having him out the team & getting him right.
We dont want him carryIng niggles into the business end of the season

Exactly, get Hock fit, get Faz fit and then have a back row to chose from Hock, Hof, Faz, Tuson and H. Not a bad problem to have.

I agree. I thought apart from that early knock-on (and he wasn't the only one to do that!), Tuson had a pretty good game.

I agree. Farrell has obviously fallen out of favour and has been dropped on a couple of occasions this season. I really cant see how Tuson has been keeping him out of the side for all this time. Tuson has had some very poor games with some real defensive howlers, such as those 2 tries against Crusaders, but somehow has kept his place when Farrell has been dropped for far less.

He defended pretty well but I didn't notice him that much in attack. At least with Farrell you generally see him causing defences some problems, especially against teams with a big pack but perhaps not much mobility down the middle. Faz's footwork is better than any other forward and he can cause all sorts of problems when he gets the chance. His support play is also fantastic.
I haven't seen much from Tuson and I don't see why aggression in defence is of such massive importance that it overrules all the positive things Farrell does both in attack and through his defensive work rate. If Madge is simply keeping Faz fresh for the back end of the season then that's fine but I don't think Tuson's performances necessarily warrant him keeping his place. Hughes has performed well when given the chance so must be putting pressure on Tuson.

| Faz is all class but Tuson looked like a man on a mission to keep his place last night. He ran hard and tackled harder with his flying leap and leg wrap around tackle on JJB being a funny highlight.
He'll be tough to move on that form but the competition is all good.

| Tuson hits harder in the tackle. Maybe given MM's physical approach to the game, this explains his preference for Tuson?

He might hit harder but at least Faz knows how to run and time an angled run, rather than knocking on every time he receives a ball at speed.

I wouldn't say Tuson is that bad. I would, however, play Faz ahead of him.

Carries/Errors
Tuson - 63/8
Farrell - 134/4
Tackles/Penalties
Tuson - 197/4
Farrell - 423/8
No disrespect to Tuson, I just don't like when coaches have random agendas with players, and favour other ones despite performances proving otherwise.

I guess he must be carrying a knock because the coaching staff are seeing something a lot of the fans arent otherwise. And the stats are on the same side as the fans.
www.superleague.co.uk/statistics ... eason=2011
Saying that I remember at the beginning of 2010 not long after Mossop signed his long term deal MM taking him out of the squad if his performances werent up to the required standard to keep him on his toes. That certainly didnt do him any harm!!

Statistics do not illustrate the full significance of a player. For instance, they cannot indicate whether a player is constantly out of position and as a consequence allows opposition teams a supreme advantage.

Not directly no, but if your averaging 30+ tackles a game and only missing 1 per game this would suggest that isnt the case.

| I definitely prefer Farrell to Tuson, Tuson often goes unnoticed in my eyes, whereas Farrell stands out and is noticeably more involved in the games.

tbh as much as thats a joke it probably does help to be a ginge when coming through into a team particulary if you are playing well- what you are doing is far more likely to be noticed!

I don't understand how Liam Farrell being left out of the squad means that Maguire picks favourites etc. To me, it's good coaching, keeps Liam on his toes and makes him want to get back in the team. Also, it gives Chris Tuson playing time and builds up his confidence coming to the business end of the season when we meet need him.
I'm a big fan of Liam don't get me wrong, but if Madge see's that Tuson is a better option then I'm not disputing. Can't argue either, we haven't lost a game without Liam playing have we?

| Faz himself admits he'd not been playing well before he was dropped:
[urlhttp://www.wigantoday.net/sport/wigan-warriors/farrell_i_deserved_to_be_axed_1_3559341[/url
Quote Farrell said: “I had a decent start to the season but I got a bit sloppy halfway through.
“I deserved to be dropped, I’ll not deny that, and I’m going to try my hardest to get back in.
“It is a tough position because there are so many good players competing for positions, but I’m going to try my best.
“I’m still working on things to try and get better. I can’t just go off one game back, I’m trying my hardest to get back in regularly.”'"

| If you know your rugby and know what your looking for you will know why Faz has been dropped these last few weeks.
The guys is great with ball in hand and clearly runs the lines well. Have a close look at his defence and in-particular the way he goes about it.
