| On top for a large portion of the game, lacked a little attacking sense at times but a win is a win and I was mightily impressed with Paisley tonight. Woods and Fields went well as well tonight IMO.

Field was terrible.
Hamlin was superb for the most part as was Paisley.
Woods improving with every week and great effort to get the drop goal over.

Wouldn’t say he was terrible, he had a decent game.
I agree about Hamlin, he was class tonight and MOM by a country mile.

| Field looked out of his depth tonight which I’ve not thought before. Hamlin was immense as was Marshall, Woods, Bateman and Tomkins. Big pat on the back to the whole team, he’ll of a win!

| Under the conditions the heat must have took a huge toll of the players stamina both teams gave it their all .The Hill penalty should have gone Wigan's way he elbowed twice in the face. The young players stood out tonight helped by the senior players we can play without Lockers.

| Not just me with Field then. I’ve never seen anything in him that makes me think he’s anywhere near ready for first team rugby. Maybe a tad harsh as he’s clearly trying but physically he’s way off.

| I thought Field went well but we’ll agree to disagree.
Still plenty of improvement in that side for me. I think we looked lost in attack sometimes and the sets before the Paisley try we were throwing the ball around like a hot potato with no clue what to do with it.

In fairness it’s not a night for criticising young players so I do feel harsh having a go at the kid but it’s simething I’ve felt since I first saw him in the side. On the flip side Paisley looks comfortable and had a big night. I’d love to know what’s going on with Jack Wells whilst on the subject of young forwards. I think he’s a terrific talent but he seems to have vanished.

Jack Wells broke a bone in his foot in the pre season game at Leigh. He’s just getting back to full fitness and will be like signing a new player once he’s back

He definitely will. I think he’s a terrific young player who just needs an injury free run in the side to really kick on. He’s another big body along with Joe Greenwood who in the long term can add some size to the pack.

| Thought it was a compelling game tonight. A lot of good performances particularly in the first half. I’d agree with Hamlin for MOM, he was all over the place.
I also thought the ref had a good game overall though 2 decisions irked me as they both led to Warrington tries. One was hill and Hamlin, how exactly is Hamlin meant to move out of the ruck if hill is on top of him after elbowing him in the face? The other is when Bateman dropped the ball leading to Charnley’s Try. That was a clear shoulder charge, arm by the side not making a tackle and rotated into it.
Big raps to Woods for having the balls to stick that one over at the end.

| That was a great game for us neutrals. Without watching it back there wasn't a great deal of flowing rugby from either side but the effort from them both was awesome. Didn't realise until after how young a lot of your players were. Hope the new coach keeps faith in them for the long term

I agree. The Hamlin penalty really annoyed me and if we'd lost a close game with that decision in the mix it would have been one of the rare times I'd have been on here blaming the ref (despite the fact we should have kicked the penalty near the end but we will ignore that for now....).
Where has Paisley sprung from? He's huge. Looked right at home, gave it a real good go and was not phased at all.

| Flower for mine was outstanding, particularly his first spell.
Tommy was the game changer though for me, we looked lost when he was off the field.
The last set sums Bateman up for me. He clearly thought he needed to make up for the turn over that lead to the levelling score. Some players would have hidden, he worked his backside off to get us in position for the drop goal. 2 quality drives in that set to help Woods get the kick over.

Just posted something similar on Mike's forum about TL. Thought he was really up for it and when he was off in the 2nd half we lacked direction.

I commented at the game that at one point early in the 2nd half we appeared to have the youngest 13 I could remember seeing in a long time on the pitch. Be interesting to know if there's been any younger.

| Good performance altogether with various players missing before and throughout the game, thought the younger lads showed up well but I’d be dropping Tautai next week, Kibula deserves a chance imo and Navarette back in for Field and that’s a strong pack,
Tomkins
Davies
Bateman
Gildart
Marshall
Woods
Powell
Navarette
Leuluai
Flower
Paisley/Farrell
Isa
O’Loughlin
Clubb
Kibula
Farrell/Paisley
Escare
Should be good enough to beat Huddersfield

Wane said post match that Sarginson will probably come back in next week along with Lockers and Navarette, so I’d imagine he’ll slot in the centr and Bateman will go in that back row.
Farrell in a lot of pain with his shoulder and is having it scanned today.

| Yeah although I don’t personally want Sarge near the 17 if that does happen Batty will go second row, also forgot about Hamlin in that team prediction and I imagine he’ll come off the bench next week unless we maybe started with him and Navarette to add a bit of energy to the pack, a bench of Clubb Flower and Kibula would be a very strong option to bring on, if Farrell is out however I’d like to see Batty at left second row, he’d slot in very well there imo

| That was a great result,a 4 point swinger with Wire which now puts us 8 points ahead of 4th, we seem to have steadied the ship after a wobble and top 4 is almost a guarantee now.
3 tough games coming up to finish the regular season and I think it’s going to be a tough battle between us and Wire for second, which with our home record this season would be a massive advantage for us.

Seconded, his first carry in the set got us in the right part of the field. And he seemed to be carrying an injury picked up in the second half. A brilliant effort.

| It’s such a shame he looks to be off. The guy is just a born rugby player, a leader and in time would’ve been ideal to stick in to that 13 shirt (although clearly a different style of player to Lockers) and even captain the club.
I just hope that one day we see him back here. With a young daughter I can’t see him being in Oz full time like the Burgess lads so fingers crossed.

| If Bateman were to stick around, a pack with him, Hamlin, Paisley and Greenwood included excites me. I’d have Bateman at #13 and give him the captaincy when SOL retires.
I haven’t seen much of Kibula to comment, same with Wells but I’m hoping going off other posters comments that they are as good as those listed above.
Re Fields I thought there is definite room for improvement for him but I don’t think he did a lot wrong. I maybe being a tad generous but I side with NickyKiss on that I don’t want to be too critical of the young lads coming through.

| Wigan really dug deep in that game. Dominant in the first half and should really have scored a couple more tries with better decision making and passing.
2nd half the lack of size at interchange cost us with Farrell and Clubb picking up injuries alongside an already youthful bench.
Marshall is looking more confident and dangerous every game. Leuluai is in great form at the moment. Hamlin and Flower were great.
Josh Charnley didn't look so cocky at the end there did he?
