I may be in a minority but when Wane was left, I was happy with it. I loved Waney and he brought success but the rugby was awful at times. It’s worse now but so is the quality of players available. I’d love us to have a completely fresh start with a Michael Maguire type of appointment. Someone with no previous connections or loyalties to the club who can bring a whole new approach and culture, just as Madge did. I fear the current set up are all too entrenched in the current systems and processes that remain from Maguires and Wanes legacy.

If that announcement was made tomorrow morning it would feel like a massive weight had been lifted.

New ideas and new personnel are needed right across the club.

I bet ex-girlfriends of Lenegan and Radlinski have to have restraining orders on them as they can't seem to let go of people who've moved on.

I’d be over joyed with emotion. None of this director of rugby nonsense, just him as head man. It’s an easy win for Lenagan to let Lam go now and at least make Wane caretaker until the seasons end. No coaches comments on Wigan’s official media channels tonight gives me hope.

I imagine I'm like a lot of people: I'd love the idea of a fresh start with a completely different coach, but failing that, I'd take Waney back in a heartbeat. The 'not ideal' is a damn sight better than the bloody awful.

He's not been out on the training field though, more planning behind the scenes (unless my info is wrong).

I wouldn’t be too concerned tbh. If he’s back, it doesn’t seem to yet be in a capacity of taking training, giving pre/post match team talks etc and until that is the case, his influence will be limited. It could just as easily be that the form is poor because he’s around the club but in the sense that the players are sick of listening to Lam and would prefer Wane to take over immediately.

I want Lam out as much as anyone but are we really wanting to go back to a coach we’ve had before when it’s clear that we need fresh eyes and fresh ideas? I was one of those who was happy for Wane to leave. I felt we were going stale and needed a fresh approach. I don’t think we should look back, especially so soon. The obsession of bringing back ex employees is bizarre.

Don’t get me wrong I’d be happy until the end of the season but I don’t believe Wane is who we want permanently. For me it’s Shane Flanagan/Brian Mac all day long.

Wane till the end of the season gives us a chance of making the Grand Final IMO. I agree with others that after that I'd prefer someone new with no previous connection to the club, but for now we can't turn our noses up at Wane if he wants to come. I don't know why he left in the first place though so don't know whether the issue is resolved.

While I think that we need a fresh coaching approach (thinking about the massive changes that came about when Madge implemented everything he'd learned not only from NRL, but also NFL and others), I would LOVE to hear the club say that Lam was being replaced by Wane today.

My hope (Note that I say "hope", not "expectation"icon_wink.gif is that he will bring at least SOME new approach(es), based on whatever he may have learned from Rugby Union.

We certainly can't be any worse off under him - Although I am REALLY worried that Matty Peet will just be more of the same as Lammy. Although at least he learnt his trade under SW, not AL.

Happy for him to to come in a caretaker and if Peet is taking over have him work closely with Waney over the next few game maybe even pre season.
