I wouldn't, that forces us to rush into a replacement which may result in us getting the wrong man. It's not like we have an experienced assistant who can take over until the end of the season either. Keep him but get looking. Tell him the only way we will renew his contract now is if we win the Grand Final.

Lenagan and Rads won’t do that and I probably wouldn’t either. It really does have to be win the grand final or bust for Lam though. The big game record in semi finals and against Saints is a horror show. We still get spoke of during media coverage as being this nasty team, who will always stick in games and push you to the 80th minute. That was Wanes team whereas Lams team has been absolutely battered from minute one to minute eighty in three semi finals.

Hopefully he gets one more semi final to turn it round and if he does then jeez you’ve got to win it. If we just compete that would be a start but not enough.

Not saying we don't need changes but no I wouldn't do that (other than giving Smith a crack). We don't have a strong assistant as far as I'm aware. French is far better suited to FB than wing. I'd want his hands on the ball more not less because he's so dangerous with it, plus I'm not convinced he is as strong in the air as Manfredi or Burgess.

If we got rid of Lam whoever we brought in as coach would still have to deal with exactly the same issues. Is a new coach likely to turn the likes of Partington or Shorrocks into barnstorming prop forwards? Ultimately the weak front row and overreliance on on young players seems to be our biggest problem and that's not going away with a change of coach.

For me Lam has until the end of the season to show that he can learn from our defeats and at least attempt to work on our deficiencies. I don't think we've got a squad good enough to win the Grand Final because of the poor return from our established players, so it's probably unfair for me to expect him to win, but I'd at least want to see improvement. I'd like to see him figure out where we can improve and make those changes rather than saying he doesn't know why it happened every time we lose.

Is "I don't know what happened" the new "we trained well"

It's not the kind of thing I'd ever expect to hear from a professional sports coach.

Maybe, you could say he's just being honest, but there's such a thing as being too honest.

It's not going to help anyone's morale when the guy in charge doesn't just look lost, but sounds it as well.

I remember thinking that all the way back to that horror show against Huddersfield last year. The most worrying thing of course is that he doesnt know how to fix it but also so naive to admit it publicly.

Exactly, if Lam was sacked, any new coach would inherit the same problems of too many players past their sell by date, players signed not up to the standard expected at Wigan and to much expected from young inexperienced players.

It is not Lam who should be getting the stick as any Coach can only work with the players he is provided with by Lenagan and former player Radlinski!

Evidently, you are not aware that the final say on the signing of players at Wigan has always been done by those running the club, always has been and always will be as they are the ones who deal with the finances of the club.

In other words now Owner Lenagan and Director Radlinski as a former player who knows about playing the game

If you think that Wigan have a great squad for Lam to coach, so be it.

Many supporters including myself don't think the squad is as strong as it should be at the present time as a result of the financial situation at the club which has seen Lenagan sell around 24% of his shareholding to get more investment into the club.

Lam has enough quality in his squad to not get battered in three semi finals on the trot without us even looking like we fancy having a crack.

Recruitment in the prop department needs to be better but Lam is the worst recruitment decision Ian Lenagan has made in his time at Wigan.

The decision on Saturday to go with only one prop forward and two second rows on the bench was bemusing. The forecast all week was for heavy rain and a strong wind and he picked a dry weather team.
At 10 - 0 down with about five minutes to half time I was reasonably confident that in the second half we could bring Harry Smith on kick them deep to their half.

The loss of Havard was immense because of Lams sub selection, he really has to take the majority of the blame for that loss.

I don't do knee jerk reactions, as most of you know I'm normally very supportive but he really needs to have a good look at himself and change things around quickly otherwise it's a JIm Reeves song.

I hope he manages it BUT it doesn't look promising.

We have a team coached poorly, who are lacking the right players because of poor recruitment by Radlinski. Back office and coaching staff are to blame imo.
