| I know clubs like to sell tickets up front to guarantee that they will get money in the bank but why do opposition teams put the price up on matchday,i cant always guarantee that i can go until sometimes the day of the game. This happened a couple of weeks ago at Castleford where i had to pay extra on the gate,Huddersfield are sticking an extra £4 on top for this Sunday's game and Salford are doing it as well, the Salford game is on Sky so people wont go because of that reason(i don't go to Salford anymore because of the car park at the ground),the sport in general is on its knees and these clubs that charge extra on the day aren't helping the situation

Huddersfield aren’t sticking an extra £4 on top. They are giving offering you chance for a discount. Or you can pay similar to what we do at yours- Just saying.

Not really a silly reply,it was as silly as your fellow fartowner and Salford charge extra on the day and for you to say its not expensive is ridiculous when you don't know each person's individual circumstances

| Just got my Huddersfield ticket today. £21 from the Warriors website. I am very much looking forward to this game too, both playing decent stuff and the best away boozers. Things like this aren't new. When a club knows there is going to be a big away following they always add on a few quid to generate extra cash. I don't like it but at the same time RL needs our cash so don't mind the extra couple of quid. It's not like football. They are just mercenaries but attendance figures in footy are dropping rapidly. We could do with adopting the German model for ticket pricing.

I'm not a drinker myself but Huddersfield have the best hot dogs in super league foot long ones, maybe Wigan need to adopt the putting the price up on the day

If most fans pay the “discounted price” then that by law becomes the actual price. The actual ASA rule is a bit more technical but you get the point.

Wish you would.
Incidentally Wigan is one of the most expensive grounds for families as your kids prices are relatively high compared to many others in SL. I usually buy mine up front anyway so a few quid off would be most welcome! It seems odd to me that someone is moaning about getting discounted tickets. Clearly not from Yorkshire!

The point i am making is that not everyone can afford to buy a ticket upfront as you sometimes don't know if you can go until the day of the game.Which is what will happen with me this Sunday as I'm a carer for someone and it depends how they are feeling on the day of the game.

Don't your kids get the Free Swaps for U17's Season Ticket holders?
Ours do!
Also - You charge Adult price from 17 - We have a Student 17-21 option that is £16 on the day - Yours would be £21 and then go up to £25 if they came on the day.
Bear in mind our Adult prices are £23 - Yet Huddersfield's go up to £25 on the day
Our OAP is $17 - Huddersfield's is £16 - But goes up £4 to £20 on the day & Huddersfield's only start at 65
No way on earth overall is Wigan's more expensive than Huddersfield's
If I was taking my 2 x lads this Sunday who are 17 & 20 and both students it would cost us 3 £63 in advance or £75 on the day
In return your 3 would get in for £55 ( Adult £23 & 2 x £16) no matter if they paid in advance or on the day
An adult coming to Huddersfield who has 2 under 16's if Season Ticket holders would only pay £21 - or £25 on the day (If they got the Junior Swaps)
An Adult coming to Wigan with 2 under 16 ST holders doing the same would be £23 full stop
Pieman says he was happy with his £55 for this Sunday
Quote ="Pieman"have to totally disagree, just got a child, over 65 and adult ticket for 43 quid....55 quid at wigan, bargain!'"
Someone coming to Wigan next Sunday for HKR would only pay £50 not 55
£23 Adult
£17 OAP (And they can get it from 60 not 65)
£10 Junior (And not sure if away fans get the Free U8's like we do - But then again surely they'd be ST holders and get the free swaps anyway)
But as the poster says - If you try and pay on the day Sunday at Hudds you'll pay £56
It's obviously comparing Apples with oranges
But not sure why anyone would be buying a Junior ticket for an away game - When a Season ticket for U17's only costs £35 for they Year at Wigan and they get a Free Swap for all away games!!!!!!
Don't even get me started on Wigan's ridiculously cheap ST's

| A lot of businesses offer early bird discounts. It allows them to plan accordingly.
Huddersfield will want a rough idea as to how many are attending so they can roster enough zero-hours stewards. They know Wiganers are tight (just like them) and wont want to pay extra, so by hiking the price up (or discounting if you prefer), they'll have the right number of staff on duty.

So which is it ?
Are they giving a discount? In which case their normal price is sky high
Or
Are they hiking the price on the day? Which is what the thread is about, I.e. they are discouraging people to attend on the day significantly.
As for staff, seriously?
If wigan sell 1000 tickets pre match do you think huddersfield don't want 500 turning up on the day (possibly another £10,000 in the kitty) just so they know if they have to put an extra 1 or 2 teenagers on £20 for the afternoon on the hot dog stall.
Put it up a couple of quid, fair enough to encourage early sales.
But £4 per ticket discourages people to go on the day IMO.
It's up to them what they do, but I'm not going to praise then for doing it as the only people that suffer are the fans.

Agreed £4 increase is a lot for people having to live of small company pensions !
