| This now has had got beyond the crazy.
Lam is a terrible as a coach. Yes he has been dealt a bum hand but at this point I would rather see us win ugly with Wane than try and win pretty win Lam.
I doubt they do but I hope Lenegan and Radlinski read these boards because they both need their s kicking!! Radlinski cannot stay in charge of signing players, other than Greenwood and Hardaker I cannot see a signing worth any value at all to this club!
We have a massively sub standard team that's filled with average Super League/ average Championship players.
Hankinson
Isa
Tautai
Powell
Leuluai
Flower
Clubb
Navarette
Marshall
Sarginson
Sammutt
Williams
O'loughlin
Escare
All of these need to leave or hand up their boots.
I struggle to see a too class youngster coming through (Smithies aside) and wonder what is going on with the academy!!
Don't give me names of players that have come through like Wells/partington/kibila etc because we all know they are duff!!
Let's get a grip!! Let's hope Lenegan gets rid of all the s***e above and Radlinski and invests some proper money into a good team with a decent coach
Please convince me otherwise!!

| I would add Manfredi to that list too. Harsh maybe, but his injury record means we are always short in his position, and paying someone not to play.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but to see Josh Charnley lined up against Hankinson yesterday made me realise what a poor decision it was not to take him back.

Yep, lets get rid of 14 players in one year, including pretty much all of the experience we have. That'll turn us into a top side

And yet still haven’t won the league in the majority of their fans lifetimes. Easy to start crying on forums when things aren’t going our way and forget the success the regime you’re criticising has brought us.
As for Gelling he has moments of brilliance and moments of sheer stupidity. And most fans on here moan when we re-sign players. (Then again when we don’t).
We’re also rumoured to be getting a very good Aussie halfback next year too. So put your toys back in the pram!

| Aren't Wire utterly fantastic?
They've won everything forever. Though they do make finals, trouble is they keep losing them.
To suggest IL/Rads have a worse record than Wire is quite something!
Can IL and Rads improve, of course. They are watching the same games we are and probably coming to the same conclusions. They know where we need to strengthen and will do it.

| I understand some of what you say. But some of those players listed are good players when coached properly.
Very harsh to criticise guys like O’Loughlin, Marshall, Flower, Leuluai.
Even Hankinson I feel people are taking their anger out on him, he’s a squad player who’s been forced to play out of position most chances he’s had. He always seems solid in defence.
People seem to forget that other clubs have average players too, it’s part of being in a salary capped sport.
It’s not the players I have an issue with, it’s the coach.
Look at saints, players like Peyroux, LMS, Grace and more. All average players who we would never have wanted to sign judging them before Holbrook arrived. But the coaching makes them play better than their talent.
At Wire, Lineham been average for ages, Patton isn’t great, Toby King, Jack Hughes we let go of etc.
Wane used to bring the same out of our players, but Lam doesn’t seem to be able to.
Im going to be controversial here, but if Wane was still here I think we’d be 2nd or 3rd in the league right now. I can’t probe this or course, but some games this season we’ve been pipped by a couple of points, Wanes defensive coaching wouldn’t have allowed some of these tries to happen.
Even looking at the Austin try yesterday, our marker defence never used to be that poor where players could run right through the middle.
Even looking at Blake Austin, he isn’t a world beater. He was a bang average NRL player who had a good season in 2015. Most Canberra fans (judging from forums and NRL Reddit forum) weren’t bothered that he left and thought he was poor. They think that they are better off with Sam Williams (played a few games for Catalans and Wakey) as well as Wighton, a centre converted to stand off via fullback.

Ah yes. The players that won every single trophy on offer. CC, SL, WCC.
Players who were winners by performing the basics to a high level of consistency and excellence.
Under Lam, regardless of whether you believe their attacking skillsets are adequate, the basics (passing, catching, tackling) have gone backwards.
That is the the sign of a bad coach.
He has made good players look average and average players bad.

Recently we've lost a few as we rebuild, but you've got to be in them to lose them.
I'm happy to attend finals and lose some. Nothing worse than getting beaten in semifinals...more of a Saints thing.

When Charnley was available, we could hardly have anticipated that we would end up having Manfredi, Davies and Marshall all out injured at the same time. That's just terrible luck. Charnley would have been a luxury we can't afford under the cap when we already have the players I mentioned plus Burgess.

No toys to through out the window and not crying just stating facts what other clubs are doing, if we had 17 playing from the academy I would still watch them home and away,

| We need an injection of at least 4 new players, inclyuding 2 marquee level signings.
I think we need a right centre, a half, a hooker and a big aggressive prop who can play long minutes.

I think we need much more if I’m honest. I’m taking it for granted that Williams has gone so for next season I’d say we need to prioritise a 6, 7, 9 and 3 props and we’re gonna have to make use of the marquee rules if we’re hoping to challenge for honours. After that we need a naturally right sided second row and centre but I can’t see how we could bring in 8 players. Huge overhaul required though.

Like you say, we aren't getting eight players (I also think that's a bad idea to be honest, as we would lose any consistency with the teams that won trophies). I'd settle for a marquee half to replace Williams and two props to replace Clubb and Lockers, with Flower moving to loose to add size to the pack and give us some leadership/experience. All that is assuming we keep Gildart, which I imagine must be a challenge.

| If we keep Sarginson, Leuluai goes round again and we lose Williams, Escare, Clubb, Tautai and Lockers then we at least 2 half backs and 2 props as a bare minimum.
Ideally we would need 3 props, 2 halves and a second rower.
Next year our team could look like this:
1 - Hardaker
2 - Manfredi
3 - Sarginson
4 - Gildart
5 - Burgess
6 - Atkin
7 - Hastings
8 - PROP
9 - Leuluai
10 - Bullock
11 - Greenwood
12 - Farrell
13 - Flower
14 - Clarke (Prop)
15 - King (Hooker)
16 - PROP
17 - Isa
With the rumoured signings, we still need another 2 props with those props needing to be ones that regularly make 2 drives a set, 150m a game, 35 tackles plus and long minutes.
I’d look to swap Craig Hall for Hankinson, Hall is a free agent at the end of the season and might be good back up. I’d also look at that Will Lovell from London Broncos, big right sided second rower, could be a good project signing.

King, that Chinese lad.
Is it Cameron King from Fev?
With regards Hall, you don’t ask you don’t get, it would put a bit of pressure on the centres to perform.

| As an outsider the decision to have a “baby sitter” coach for a year seemed very odd. It was almost a white flag for this season, the Edwards fiasco has just compounded the problem. Whoever is to be coach next season needs to be fully tied in before the season ends to do the planning and agree signings etc or next season could be worse than this.

Escare and Tautai are under contract. I could see someone signing Escare on a free, but not Tautai. I'd go
1. Hardaker
2. Davies/Marshall
3. Sarginson
4. Gildart ( )
5. Burgess
6. MARQUEE SIGNING
7. Sammut
8. Bullock
9. Leuluai
10. SIGNING
11. Greenwood
12. Farrell
13. Flower
14. SIGNING (prop)
15. Powell/Jake Shorrocks
16. Navarette/Tautai/Partington
17. Isa/Smithies
Escare, Hankinson, Smith, Byrne, Borough, Wells, Joe Shorrocks and Kibula in reserve. I don't like calling for Lockers to retire, but I do think this season should be his last.

| Cameron King appears to be a decent hooker. I’ve not seen a lot of him but from seeing him a few times, he seems to have plenty of positive attributes that I like to see in hookers. His passing is sharp and accurate, he scoots when the opportunity arises, he can kick reasonably well and tackles hard. Those comments are made having seen him against lower division opponents but I’d like to see him against SL teams. Could be a shrewd bit of business.
