| After watching watching Cas kick Leeds backside tonight i have to admit its going to take a good side to beat Castleford this season. They are BRILLIANT as a Wigan fan i have to admit they have signes some SUPERB players and have to admit they would have knocked at least 40 points past Wigan tonight

Not sure what you're basing your 'put 40 points on Wigan' comment on? They were superb and nobody should try to take anything away from that. Their consistency will be important if they suffer injuries to key players. Leeds were poor and it's hard to think we'll play anything like they did last night. I'm very confident in Wigan this season and I think we'll beat them!

| remember Wakefield put 62 past us last season and on that performance they looked like world beaters, Leeds were a very very poor team last night. One swallow doesn't make a summer

| Good side who will rightfully lap up all the praise. They detest us but I have nothing against them and they're good to watch.
It's a long season though and I've seen plenty of sides (including us in 2012) in stunning form only to fall away.

| Great form so far and I hope they keep it up! We need teams like Cas and others to up the standard of SL. It is then up to other teams like Wigan to play better if they want to win anything.

| If they can follow up last nights stunning performance with another, and another, then grind out four or five wins on the trot from losing positions, then you may have a point.
Until then, I'll take it in the context its in - a thumping home win against a woeful Leeds side who clearly still haven't got over losing Sinfield.

Leeds were poor and Cas will meet teams who put up a better resistance for sure but I have been watching RL for long enough (nearly 60 years) to recognise a good team when I see one.

| I have been reading blogs from wire fans harking back to their 2012 team and the fantastic rugby they played. Look at the league table and you see Wigan had the best scoring record that year.
Teams can play exciting rugby and go through periods were they look unbeatable, remember Schofields Saints can go through the season unbeaten? A stuffing from Wigan on good Friday and that all changed.
I am confident this current Wigan team will be contesting the trophies throw in the injured stars and the team can only get better

| Cas start well every season. They managed to get to a CC final but were out of gas before August.
3 games in and people are getting excited about a side that does this every season. One of two injuries they are going to struggle.

Wigan will be contesting all trophies this season in my view. Nobody is saying that Cas will win everything or are unbeatable but nobody can deny the great performances they have shown in their three games so far. It is great for SL. Ideally we want all teams playing well and then the winners are the the team who can play even better at the crucial times of the season.

| Fair's fair, I don't care how poor Leeds were yesterday, Cas were absolutely outstanding. Would've been a completely different game if they were playing Wigan, but still would've been incredibly difficult to stop on that showing.
As for GF winners, I still seriously doubt it. Could be a decent outside bet for Wembley, but they're still in the position that 2 or 3 injuries hurts Cas a lot more than it hurts us, or even Wire, Hull & Saints for that matter.

| They are playing some great rugby, really enjoyable to watch. Powell is an excellent coach, hope he takes on England at some point. I'm tipping Cas to make another final this year, maybe even win the Challenge Cup.

We already have 2 or 3 injuries.
Roberts Chase Patrick & Oli Holmes are all first teamers who were missing last night. Also Hitchcox is injured but more of a squad player.
The last 2 weeks we haven't even used all of our subs. Maher didnt get on lasrt night and Monaghan didn't last week against Wire.
Anyway to stick 60 on any leeds side was incredible and certainly left me pinching myself to make sure it happened.

Cas are playing some great stuff and are quite rightly flavour of the moment, just as Wire were in 2011 and we were in 2012.
www.rugby-league.com/superleague ... eport/7527
I wonder what happened later in those seasons? I'm really looking forward to the Wigan v Cas game in a few weeks time, should be interesting, I don't think we'll allow them the freedom they have had so far.
Quote from a certain assistant coach at the time v Wire in a Challenge Cup game against them in 2011,just prior to kick off. "They've been playing tick and pass all season, they won't be playing tick and pass today" Guess who?

Granted, but it's one thing doing that in week 3 when everyone's fresh, won't be sustainable over a long, gruelling season.
I'm honestly not trying to have a downer on yesterday. You completely dismantled Leeds, and if you keep anything like that sort of performance up you'll take some stopping! A strong Cas is good for the league, especially playing the brand of rugby that you do, and a crowd of 11.5k or whatever it was is really encouraging. But you're not the first team that looks great in March, I'll take some convincing that the bigger squads and experience of winning the big games won't count for too much come October.

| It's Been a great start to the season but I'm not getting carried away its a marathon not a sprint. I still feel yourselves are the team the others are chasing and I'm sure we will have some good clashes over the season and two very differing styles should make for good games.
I'm probably one of the few Cas fans that respects Shaun wane and Wigan in general,I believe we clash because we are more alike than we'd like to admit. both been rich in rugby history and mining towns been the heartbeats of the towns, where Powell can learn from you is by not trying to win every game. This is where wane is shrewd he knows his team will make the top 4 so he doesn't mind sacrificing a game to make sure his players are fresh when it matters at the business end.
for ourselves it's just a case of enjoying the ride and seeing where it takes us,I'm not ruling anything out and I feel the league leaders shield is probably our best shot at silver wear because I don't think we will be has keen to take those losses wane and tony smith will, getting to a grand final is taking our game to another level and I'm under no illusion how tough that will be but you have to be in it to win it.

| I think we should just give Cas the trophy now and push on to the World Cup. Forget the domestic competition it is clearly pointless.
In all seriousness Cas are a joy to watch and I have to say I have been pleasantly surprised by the standard of SL so far.
Leeds were woeful, one of the worst performances I've seen in a long time, and they played right into Cas' hands. A defence that is aggressive and doesn't allow them to play as much will be a very different prospect.
We seem to be playing a more attractive style this year with the same level of intensity in defence.
It will take a very good team to take our title. Could Cas be that team? Possibly. They should certainly be looking to challenge on all fronts this year and good luck to them. I look forward to watching them again.

TBH for us last season it was like Walk to the Super 8, A jog to the Eliminator and then hit the accelerator with everything we got left. Last season showed how you need a squad to win the Grand Final.
Not one person I think if they were honest believed we would have made the GF last season after the loss to Widnes in the Super 8's. As you mentioned this is not the first side to put beatings on sides.
Ironically the biggest example is the best side to watch in the history of SL our 2012 side. Was destroying everyone in sight but you felt us run out of steam mid August and we had nothing left in the Play offs.
No point playing your best now will mean nothing come the start of the Semi's.

| Wire steamrollered everyone in 2011, playing superb rugby. Think our points difference by the end was something like +690. We didn't even make the grand final. Cas will probably make the top 4, but I cant see them winning it. Wigans to throw away this season if I'm honest.

| Cas look very good and have made some good signings. I always like the look of Hull as well but last season apart they were past masters at falling off the pace. I am sure you will get some numpty saying this is evidence of the salary cap working if Leeds and Saints continue to look rubbish and if Wire don't live up to expectations but it isn't. If it was we'd have a strong Cas & Hull but also Saints, Leeds, Wire and us all at the top level. It's no good if you get progression from other teams at the same time as other former strong sides look a shadow of what they were.

| Cas look good but that's as far as you can go at this stage, very early days. I said they look a good bet for top 4 on the VT and got accused of being sarcastic, typical Wiganer etc.
Aside from Gale and Hardaker, their team is pretty average but playing well above what is expected. They've beaten Leigh (easy meat), a Wire side post-Brisbane (good result though) and the worst Leeds side in SL history. 4th best team IMO.

I think that's fair, them lot on the VT are getting excited about Cas because they desperately want an outsider to win SL, much like everyone was behind Leicester to win the Premier League last year, and to be honest if not Wigan then I'd love Cas to win it.
They've looked excellent so far, 140 points in 3 games is mental! And I disagree about only having 2 good players, the likes of McMeeken, Junior Moors, McShane, Millington, Milner have been very good for a while, then they have younger talents like Minikin and Springer, Sene-Lefao looks a beast and Eden is a very good replacement for Solomona, last but not least there's the maverick that is Rangi Chase who can be a match-winner if his heads screwed on.
I think their toughest opponent this year will be injuries, because unless they have some youngsters hidden away that will make the step up, they are much less equipped to deal with casualties than the other big sides.
