That's a decent squad under the circumstances, but how many are really likely to play?

| Charnley, Sarginson and Sam Tomkins all having very late fitness tests according to Wane.
So even if they play they wont be at 100%.

| Best case scenario from that squad looks pretty strong.
S Tomkins
Manfredi
Gildart
Sarginson
Charnley
Williams
Smith
Flower
Powell
Mossop
Isa
Sutton
Tautai
Bretherton
Nuuausala
Shelford
Shorrocks
If all three of Sarg, Charnley and Sam are out then that makes things very interesting. I'd guess Higginson would go to centre and Tierney would play either at wing or FB but I'm struggling to see where another outside back is coming from. Unless we push Gildart out to the wing and put Isa at centre. I wonder if Shorrocks could do a job at FB?

I thought that Charnley had dislocated his shoulder?
I will be surprised if ST plays after some of the comments on his fitness on other threads.
Could be a tough one Friday if we have to play 2 or 3 out of Shorrocks, Higginson and Shelford. All these lads have great potential but a big ask to play all of them at Headingley.
To be fair to Tierney he has stepped up of late and deserves a run of a few games but personally I wouldn't play him at FB if ST is absent and like yourself I wonder if Shorrocks could do a job for us at FB and give Tierney another run out on the wing.
Maybe Rouges could advise if Shorrocks or possibly Higginson have any experience of playing FB.

| Wane said ST had rolled his ankle which (noting that I am no medical expert) i wouldn't have thought poses a risk to play him. If there's any doubt over him he is too important to risk with a SF coming up.

| They shouldn't take any risks whatsoever. We've got a huge game coming up in two weeks that we need to win. If that means players sitting out the Leeds game and/or the Saints game then so be it.
It may mean we sacrifice top spot going in to the super 8's but we could surely live with that for a place at Wembley.
I'd sit Tomkns and one of Sarginson/Charnley out and line up-
Tierney
Manfredi Sarginson Gildart Higginson
Williams Smith
Mossop Powell Flower
Isa Sutton Nuuausala
Subs
Tautai Bretherton Shelford Shorrocks
It's another massively depleted side but needs must.

| I hope Tierney gets a crack after his performance last week and signing a new contract. Let Sam Tomkins have a rest if he's touch and go. As NK said, the cup semi should be our priority rather than top spot.

| If you do lose Sarginson, Tomkins and Charnley it tips the balance in Leeds favour I think.
Like you have said you have bigger fish to fry in the weeks ahead so I doubt Wane will risk players with niggles.
It will be interesting to see how your young blokes get on.
I really like the look of Shorrocks in the limited time I have seen him and looks to be a great prospect.
I said the same about Williams a few years ago when we were getting excited about Sutcliffe.
Williams always looked a better prospect to me.
Let`s hope you don`t use the injury excuse we have been spouting on about all year if you lose
We are the only team who have had injuries this year you know.

| Think we're really going to struggle in this one. Just need to frustrate Leeds' attack as they aren't great at scoring this year.

| Playing Tierney at full back was daft. Should have been on the wing with Sarginson at #1.

| As good as certain aspects of Williams' game are, he's going to have to learn to be able to pass and kick the ball more than 10 yards. I thought he blew a few chances to put the backs away in the second half.

| I thought that was a great effort I expected a significantly bigger loss. Tautai I thought was outstanding along with Josh and Dom.
Williams best player on the pitch by a mile. FPN was clearly short of match fitness but went ok.
Smith is a joke this season, just the defection of average despite the effort and he struggles to create anything unless Tomkins is calling the shots.
Powell is coming of age as a hooker, I'm more than happy with him rotating with MM when he is fit.
More optimistic than ever after that performance of us winning the title, assuming we can keep Sam on the field.

Really..????
Charnley lost Wigan the game then throw his toy out of the pram, class..???? No really.
Wigan have not got him next year and will be a better team for it.

A great effort? You expected a bigger loss?
I'm not sure if you're up to speed on event's but going into tonight leeds were BOTTOM of the table after 2/3 of the season. Tonight was a very poor result for wigan, going into a crucial stage of the season.
Wigan are the grinders of the league. You turn up, week in week out and play to your systems. Sometimes playing poorly, sometimes playing well, but most of the time finding a way to win. But i'm not sure you can grind your way to a title. I'd be more optimistic of warrington or hull winning the title because they seem to have a little bit extra, but wigan will almost certainly be there at old trafford...one way or another.

Imagine if we turned up and played to our systems with our 9 missing players in the ranks!!
We might well make Old Trafford some way or the other of we're lucky enough to get them back.
Fantastic showing tonight from Wigan. A credit to the club unlike the Leeds players for the majority of 2016.

9 of first 17 not playing and if Sam Tomkins plays we win that game comfortably.
If ever a team deserves a break for a loss it's this wigan team.
They've worked their socks off for the last 10 weeks and played busted most of them not to forget their efforts over the first 5/6 weeks.
One thing most people are forgetting is that tonight was a big game for Leeds.
They're fighting for 4 home games in middles 8s and tonight's win could be the differnce between Batley at home instead of Batley away!
Well done Leeds

The potential to avoid a trip to batley is enough to make anyone play like their lives depend on it.

Absolutely
The walk up the hill is enough to put anyone off!
On a serious note anyone who's seen the effort these lads have put in over the last 10 weeks and given some of the other issues including injuries and "suspension" would understand that given the relative situations of both teams it's understandable that Leeds just looked that bit fresher although Wigan coming back in last 10mins was a good sign that this team never know when they're beat.
I'm more than satisfied with that effort and like jonh was saying i was think8ng earlier in week that this could be a biggish defeat.
Lots of good signs and 2/ 3 weeks down the line with sam/gelling/lockers/Crosby/Bateman and then farell and mickey mac 6/8weeks down the line come business end of season I'm more than confident these lads have it in the tank.
