As someone else who will be at Leeds, regardless of how the team is playing - I was there, "having a party", when we lost 70-0 - I find your attitude borderline offensive.

I have never, and probably never will, booed the team.

I did however, walk out the second the full-time hooter went at Castleford, as that performance did not deserve one more second of my time.

As to the people who did boo them - They deserved it, quite frankly, and having paid their money (and travelled 60+ miles) to watch the game, they are ABSOLUTELY entitled to express their opinion on the team's utter lack of effort in any (legal) way that they want to.

If you want to clap and shout "good effort" or whatever, and you think that makes you a better fan, then good for you.

I however, prefer to see this analogy.

If Wigan RL was our favourite restaurant, we get used to the fine dining on offer.

Occasionally, though, we as fans will be served a s**t sandwich.

On that night, that may be all that is on offer.

Whilst I am basically forced to eat it, I do *not* need to give my compliments to the chef for serving it up (happy clappers).

Others (the "booers"icon_wink.gif choose to complain to the restaurant about it. I'm not that kind of guy, but it is a completely valid reaction to the crap on offer.

Just because someone chooses to express their opinion on the atrocious attitude of our team on Friday night, that does *not* give you the right to tell them to stop watching OUR team.

Please drop the holier-than-thou attitude, as at some point, if you keep on telling people to go and watch football if they want to boo, you're going to end up telling the wrong person and ending up on the wrong side of something undesired.

Bottom line: We all support our team by going to the game(s) - Regardless of whether that's once in a blue-moon or every single match - And we are all entitled to express our opinion pretty much how we want to. Just stop trying to force everyone to show support in the same way that you do. If we followed your advice, we'd end up with a crowd of around 500-1,000 who would stay and clap whatever the performance - Do you think the team would play better then (or be able to afford any way to become better)?

NB - I apologise to all reasonable supporters for having a rant, but this "I'm a better fan than you" attitude really gets on my waz.

FAO pie eyed my unhappiness is aimed at the idiots who gave me,my brother,a 17 year old and a 10 year old girl foul language and threats of violence for clapping the team off at Widnes,that was her first game as a season ticket holder,that 10 year old being my niece,those people know who they are and our paths will cross again sometime soon when my niece does not go to an away game and justice will be swift i do not and will not get my revenge in front of her as i do not want her to see such things

Did you report it to a steward at the time? Or have you reported it to the club since? Why don't you do us all a favour and get the idiots banned rather than getting your own "swift justice"?

The 2 stewards were a middle aged woman and a fella in his early sixties who claimed never to have done the job before,you either seem to get the likes of them or the the "sia" licenced thugs at the saints,so the only path open to me is doing it my way unfortunately,maybe if the police werent obsessed with filming the home supporters and had some in the away end this would have been dealt with on the night,by the time the police were seen they had disapeared like the cowards they are.

Anyone there on Friday night who clapped the team after that "performance" have incredibly low expectations of a professional sports team.

2nd best in all departments and facets of the game with some of the usual suspects unable to keep their discipline or stop their brain farts. Pub team stuff.

I clapped them for putting their bodies on the line for our entertainment. Particularly as they have short careers and aren't paid very well compared with football or rugby union. They were also taking dogs abuse from some of our 'fans' to be honest. I'm a Wigan supporter whether we are winning a final against Saints or getting tonked in the league by Castleford

That type of "fan" can absolutely bugger off - Although not to football, as than I might have to put up with them on my occasional visit to Anfield.

I do agree with Wigg'n though, as these type of morons are best left to the stewards, due to their inability to do anything individually - You're more than likely to end up with all of their drunk little friends joining in. (Although if you do manage to collar them, just do it quietly, leave no marks and try to stop when they cry for their Mum).

Expecting a win shows the mixture of entitlement and arrogance that annoys lots of fans of other clubs and giver Wigan fans a bad name. I'll never forget being in the second division - a salutary reminder of the ups and downs of fate. Take the defeat on the chin - it's a part of sport.

Saints were beaten by the same scoreline on three or four occasions last year and ended up the season as Champions, so lets not get ahead of ourselves here. Yes there are problems, and it would appear lots of them, but there is never an excuse for booing your own team.

I'd qualify that with "unless they are so abject, apathetic, lazy & careless as to deserve every bit opprobrium heaped on them". I'm going back about 10 years but the only time I've felt so angry towards the team was at home with Giants when they really were that bad.

I know what you mean. But one of the great things about our game is that the players usually don't give in. I've seen teams 70 points down and still tackling as if their lives depended on it. The loss at Cas was unusual because under Madge and Waney we haven't had that sort of scoreline against us at all really. SW described it as his worst game as a coach and I believe him. However I don't think we threw the towel in at all. We were just poor.

So I would still argue that the players know without being told by the fans that it wasn't good enough. I was frustrated throughout the game, but I kept quiet and clapped them off at the end. I respected Faz and the others for coming over to us - it must have been hard.
