I've just seen the Radlinski youtube video and it kinda got me thinking of in an all-time Super League Wigan side, who would I pick out of the two?

Just wondered everyone's opinion on the topic to be honest.

For me, I think Rads just beats Sam to the number 1 shirt. But I think I'd sneak Sam in at 6, just ahead of Barrett!

Sam at 6, Radders at 1. I'm still of the opinion that Sam would be better, more effective and have more of an influence at stand off, but that's not our problem any more.

Radders.

Maybe Sam can overtake him, maybe not. Only time will tell.

Much as i love to watch Sam, i would have paid on the gate just to watch Radlinski. as has been said who knows where Sam will get to, but if your life depended on the fullback... Radlinski every time.

Radlinski for me everyday of the week. Sam is a great attacking fullback but radders had it all. I'd go so far as to say that Robinson is on a par with Sam for an attacking fullback

Radlinski, he was the ultimate last line of defense and great in attack. I think the fact he never turned his back on the club or frequently criticized the sport also sways my opinion.

I posted in a topic the other week, the first thing a fullback should be able to do is defend, and I have never seen anyone better than Rads.

In terms of attacking talent there is only one winner. Tomkins is arguably the most talented player we have had at the club since Ellery Hanley.

By Radders own admission in his book he stated he knew he wasnt the most talented of players but hard graft and total committment got him to where he wanted to be.
For last line of defence then Rads nails it.

Overall if I had to choose either as full back in my all time Wigan XIII then I would have to say Tomkins (very difficult to ignore the attacking performances over the last five years).

Both considered Wigan RL legends (of which we have many).

sam by a long chalk.

radders never had the ability to change a game on his own. he was excellent at coming into the line but had no ability to create for others.

defensively in the WC Sam was excellent. he was a s secure as any other FB in the tournament and this was real testament to the hard work he has put in.

Radders had a great career, but he has never the best player in SL. Sam, even for one so young, has been the best player in SL for 3 seasons.

Rads for me great defender safe under the high ball and not too shabby in attack

Rads, no doubt about it.

Very difficult decision, with both players at their peak I'd say Sam purely because for a good while teams just didn't know how to defend against him, but I will say that if Sam had stayed in SL for much longer I'm not sure he would have been as effective, whereas Radlinski maintained high standards for over a decade because his strengths weren't really things teams could combat.

Hampo, Rads then Sam for me

Rampo was great with the high ball, the best I have ever seen.
Rads was better than Hampo in that he had pace to get him into the right positions.
Sam is better than Rads, his running, passing and evasive qualities edge it for me.

Radlinski for me. I couldn't see Tomkins playing for no fees.

Sam by a country mile. Radders was good but I wouldn't get to my feet when he had the ball. A great support player but he couldn't step and he would never ever beat the first man. Weirdly that was a skill that Wellens did possess despite his lack of pace. Defensively Hampo was better. Attacking Sam is better.

Sam by a distance.

Far, far more natural ability than Rads. Rads will a brilliant full back, but Sam is a one off, the lad is a freak.

Rads gets it for me. Sam's freakish ability to change a game with his attacking runs has been amazing at times but Rad would change & win games with an incredible tackle that no other full back would make. Both had different attributes but Rad's commitment to the club he loves can't be ignored. I'd put Rad as my all time favourite full back. As much as I loved watching Hampo, he's not in the same league as the other 2.

This isn't even close, Tomkins by an absolute mile.

Absence must make the heart grow fonder I guess. I can't believe this is even a debate, Tomkins is on a different level.

Radders for me and not just because Sam’s now gone, but Rad was a professionals professional, he might not have the attacking flair of Sam but he made up for it in other departments, and though it’s often said about other for me Rads was one of the very few real one hundred per.

Hampson.

Why?

Radz couldn't break wind let alone the line, yet outstanding in defence.
Sam is amazing in attack, can literally score from anywhere, but have defensive issues.

Hampson, while not as a good as Sam in attack, he wasn'y a million miles away, and could tackle and read the game better than any Wigan FB I've seen, nominated for the golden boot in the 80s.

That's just off the top of my head.

I think people should be made to post their age when answering this question, Hampson for me was the most assured and confident player I've seen pull a shirt on, and this is from someone who supports Warrington.

If I could replicate a fullback with the exact same skills set as Hampson, Tomkins would never play at 1 again for England
