| What's happened to the atmosphere at the DW? It's a little shameful being at home and being able to hear 100 Widnes fans over the home support. Is this what to expect for the derby?

| This is what happens when fans turn on their own. Some people make tits out of themselves and the whole world ends.
All those fans that completely crushed the Brigantes have got what they wanted. No atmosphere at all and I doubt it'll change.

So the Club banning morons who disgrace the name of WRL and being applauded by all is now classed as "crushing the Brigantes" ??
grow up will you. If 'atmosphere' = allowing people to get away with unacceptable (and prob illegal) behaviour, I know what I want.

I'm with ShortArse on this one; you need to grow up. If you want to create a good atmosphere at a ground the first thing you need to do is get as many people as possible behind the idea otherwise it will just peter out.
Every single time someone tried to raise a concern or share an opinion on this forum about the Brigantes they were shot down because it seemed many of the people involved in the group took any suggestion that they could do things differently as a sign of persecution. They just kept increasing the gap between themselves and most other fans so it's little surprise that people ended up turning against the idea.

Never disagreed with those who caused trouble being banned. But the generalisation from most on here calling all of them morons etc... was ridiculous. Most wanted to create a good atmosphere but it has been spoilt.

I am not defending them for one second. I'm just saying that those who were quick to label them all as idiots were always bound to flush them all away.
The fact is: They aren't all idiots, but why turn up and create an atmosphere when you're going to get shot down? If I were them I wouldn't.

| It was cold. Very cold. The result was never in doubt. Everyone near us enjoyed watching the young lads stepping up and the halves putting in the sort of performance that we couldn't have expected 8 games in.
Wait until the weather eventually improves and the pitches firm up. We'll be a wonderful sight.

| You could have had the Brigantes, Sheffield Wednesday band, that Leeds fan with the trumpet and the Philharmonic Orchestra there tonight and there still wouldn't have been an atmosphere.
It was bitterly cold, the game was over after 15 minutes and there was no crowd. Games like that wouldn't get atmosphere even it was the Grand Final.

| Many season ticket seats were empty. It was on telly. It was very cold. It was a complete non contest (although enjoyable). Even when we clapped it was muted as everyone had gloves on! Next week will obviously be very different indeed. Drum or no drum. In fact, a drum would have just sounded ridiculous tonight.
Credit to the travelling support though! Good amount of noise throughout. Loved their chant of "easy, easy" when they scored. Showed good humour and spirit.
With regards to the brigantes thing... Don't think anyone criticised the good atmosphere they helped create, just the key decision to follow the route of the 'ultra' image. Not in the name of Wigan RLFC thanks. We can be intimidating on the field, no need to intentionally intimidate off it. Atmosphere and banter, yes. 'Ultra' imagery and intimidation, not for this sport or club.

How can banning 5 trouble causing muppets have killed the atmosphre? Are we really saying it was only those 5 lads making any noise?

Spot on, everyone near us simply sat, watched and admired what was a very very impressive training session from a young team on a freezing cold night. The atmosphere will be just fine come Good Friday, when it matters.

| Don't upset the Brigantes or they'll have a silent protest and we won't get to hear amazing renditions of Up Up and Away and various other non-Wigan RL songs.

| A little confused, has the drum been banned from the stadium? I understand that it was freezing last night but there were over 10,000 Wigan supporters compared to probably 100 Widnes supporters. It may have felt like a training session and people may have been silently admiring the young players step up but which do you think the players would prefer:- silent admiration or a little enthusiasm when the put 62 points past a team. I for one don’t want to hear a team like Widnes shout at the DW ‘we forgot that you were here’ or ‘you’re supposed to be at home’. I wasn’t a rugby fan before 2006 and to be honest I was forced to go to home and away games by my Wigan crazy partner. In 2006 I fell in love with this club and that was when we were facing relegation. I’d take the pride and the passion and enthusiasm from 2006 any day of the week.
In brighter news has anyone seen the players do the Harlem Shake video, led by Hansen?

| Games like that will never have an atmosphere. The weather was shocking and it was on TV. However, I am very embarrased to say that 100 Widnes fans outsung 10,000+ Wiganers last night, and apparently we have the best supporters in the league?
Ever since the 5 people were banned the atmosphere has been very poor. I can imagine that it'll be very similar next week against Saints, where you can hear a pin drop.

| Difficult to create an atmosphere when it was freezing and our young Wigan team totally dominated the opposition, and yes I had some gloves on but really enjoyed the performance, well done lads same again Friday, and well done to the Widnes fans that made the effort to travel on a freezing cold Saturday evening when the game was on TV.
5 fans being banned had nothing to do with the atmosphere last night.

| Why do we need an atmosphere? I've never really been one for singing/chanting and much preferred to focus my attention on the game. Atmosphere is a football thing, no need for it at RL.

That is very true mate, last night was a game Wigan dominated and it was bitterly cold aswell.
I'm not saying that because the 5 were banned the atmosphere was bad like that because games like that will always be very dull. What I'm saying is since the 5 were banned the atmosphere at the games has gone worse and worse as the games have gone on, Leeds was a bit of an exception but it wasn't great.
