Is this right, and if so, I look forward to all the Saints flags being banned as well. Fair's fair and all that.

No flags or drums. Saints have written to Wigan and asked that the message be passed on. Those flouting the ruling will be banned from not just Langtree Park but every Super League ground apparently.

Not sure what Saints big worry is all about? I've heard that Saints have a card display planned and don't want Wigan to distract from it in any way

Maybe they ought to tell their own fans then as the Paul Wellens one was on display not long back.

You can take flags in but not the ones on poles. Saints fans don't have any on poles. You can drape them over the barriers like we do.

Well, it's disappointing about the flag's. So long as it's the same for everyone though then I won't have to much of a problem with it.

In that case, Wigan fans need to take scarves, beach balls, inflatable sheep, whistles, kazoos, condoms (blown up of course), horns and any other number of annoying items.

Oh, and of course, shout and sing louder than ever. Saints clearly know their supporters won't create an atmosphere and are scared to death of us outshining them. So, they're trying to shut us up, and we need to prove that they won't succeed in that aim.

Flags you can only see from behind are ace.

Wigan fans are allowed to display their hanging flags at the DW, Saints fans are not.

I don't see the issue really. No team are allowed to take in poles or drums, why should wigan expect an exception????

Special permission is needed to go up on the gantry. Only a couple of people are allowed to do it.

I doubt saints fans have even asked about flags on huge poles, they don't have any.

It's the same at LP, special access is needed to get the flags up at the top of the terrace. The flags have to be put up, a fair bit of time prior to KO.



I know a lad who rang up the DW Ground Safety Team before the last Good Friday derby, asking could a handheld banner with poles be displayed, the answer was no. They wouldn't even allow the banner to be used without poles.

Drums would be banned from all grounds if it was up to me.

I understand the flags on poles ban, health and safety certificates are hard to come by these days and it's always a risk. Especially with standing rather than seating.

I'm sure the other flags will be allowed if prior notice is given.

Poles within the stands has only been allowed this season, so can understand that. The Wigan club have become more relaxed this season with regards to displays in the stand. Maybe one of the guys on here (PM Conroy) could put you in touch with the right people at the club in time for the league match at the DW. (I'm not promising anything, but I reckon they will be a lot more open minded if done correctly).

At the end of the day, a large display at each end with both sections of fans bouncing off one another is probably the ultimate aim over the coming years. There would be nothing else like it in Rugby League.

If you have ANYTHING that is Cherry and White (red is acceptable) or black and gold be it a scarf, some paper you can rip up, a t-shirt you can swing round your head....whatever, get it took on Friday and lets fill the place with colour.
