Heard from a good source that Sam and Lockers may be rested tomorrow. Along with Richards and Leuluai it might be too many changes for me. Not sure who would cover wing and fullback with only Russell in the squad who's suited to those positions. Not 100% definite but just what I've heard.

Christ. If true, I hope we're not underestimating Widnes here. This will make them even more fired up IMO.

If he is resting Lockers I think Tuson may get the start as he has tended to come on at loose when Lockers has gone into the halves.

Big risk resting so many but still think we have enough quality to win convincingly.... I hope.

I really hope Wane's policy of introducing youth prospects into the first team pays off it would be so rewarding to see a youngster like Russell make the transition to top grade rugby. Jack Hughes has already shown he is very competent against the best in the league, it will be great if more players can follow in his foot steps this season.

Would love one game to rest Finch, Lauaki, Leuluai, Richards, Lima and Flower and have a full 17 of academy lads

Is it just me who thinks using this game to rest so many key players in one go could come back to haunt us? I'm all for giving the younger players a shot... But lets not go to crazy. Widnes still have some pretty good players who one of these days are gonna click together and put in a good performance... I'd hate to see that happen against an understrength Wigan side.

It's going too far IMO if that's the case and just gives Widnes motivation. They're the 2 players that if in the side at 1 and 13 I think we can get away with resting pretty much anyone else as those 2 are so important to us.

There's other opportunities coming up against lower sides for a rest like London next week or Saints on Good Friday!!

If Sam doesn't play tomorrow, then I'm having second thoughts about going to the game. I think we should play our strongest team and steamroll them! I think we could quite easily cope without Sam, but Lockers, thats a different story.

I hope we take tomorrow seriously because it has Crusaders 2009 written all over it and that was embarrassing.

Wane has said he wants Wigan to be ruthless for 80 mins. I hope he picks a side that is capable of doing that against Widnes. It is a good idea to rest some of our key players, but I'd be surprised if he rested Sam and Lockers together.

I think it's important to rest players when necessary. We need squad rotation. No matter which team we play, there would always be a chance for it to backfire. I'd like to see who will come in for them and I will trust that they will do a good job.

Gone a bit far for me and were running a risk of throwing a simple 2 points away.

You'd like to think it's enough to win but it could be an uncomfortable day.

There's no one who knows the youngsters better than Wane does, that's for sure. But I seriously hope we don't under-estimate Widnes too much, these changes can spur them on. But, in Wane we trust.

All depends on the start now. If we get off to a goodun we'll be fine, however if we let Widnes get a sniff, we may well be in for a tough afternoon.

Well had to check it myself, but Sam definitely isn't playing. Confirmed by himself on Twitter.

Strangely I'm more excited about the game now than I was earlier in the week when it was thought that we were playing our strongest team. Gonna be interesting viewing today.

Only time will tell if this move pays off but it does make me a little nervous considering two of our best players are in the stands.

Sooner or later Wane's going to have to find out if the fringe players are good enough for first team rugby, better off playing them by choice rather than chucking them in through necessity when injuries occur.
