| Has started the season on fire. Is he capable of sustaining this until the end of the season?
MOS for me already.

| He is the best play in super league without doubt but someone like Ben Jeffries will probably win man of steel.

| Should have won MOS last year.
He has started the season very well. I find it hard to remember him having a bad game. I can remember games where he didn't exactly score a handful and create for the rest of the team, sometimes that seems like a bad game because of what we are used to from him. But seriously, has he ever played bad for us?
Every time he gets the ball he is a threat, the defence look at him for the whole game even without ball in hand, opposition fans cheer when he gets tackled.
The first rugby game I actually remember attending was in 1995, 17 years on. He is the most talented player I have seen in a Wigan shirt. He does some of the things you see Hanley and Kenny doing on the video tapes. He is special, so yes, he will carry on. The boy is pure class. Long may it continue, I just pray he stays with Wigan for his whole career. I have no doubt that he will be remembered as the greatest ever if he does and carries on as he has been!

| He'll have to go some to win the MOS award.
If he didn't get it last year then christ knows how well he'll have to play to get it this after his pay rise and appearance for the Barbarians. Some of super leagues 'average Joes' will be even more jealous now.

Yeah, let's remember - last night's pile of shyyyte was contested by the best two teams in SL (according to Wiggy). So it will have to be one of that lot. Hall seems a reasonable bet. He did nothing, but f**k so did Rangi Chase, and look what happened there.

| MOS is a popularity show and has so little importance in my opinion, I judge a players on how they perform and the silverware they win.

Sadly, you're right. The Barrett debacle proved that a panel of 'RL experts' can't be trusted. The fact that some clown actually voted for Danny Maguire as MOM at Wembley last year shows the RL press can't be trusted. And last year's Man of Steel showed the players can't be trusted.
There's basically no-one left, so the whole thing is a farce.

I think the coaches would be the best judges. They watch the players the most and make plans to stop other teams danger men so will really be focussing on that particular seasons best players. I think the majority are sensible enough to vote fairly on the issue as well.
It could be no worse then the journo's or players voting for it going off past results.

| TBH The player's player is the best way to go about it. Just because you don't agree with the result, doesn't mean they can't be 'trusted'.
If a panel of his peers vote Chase MoS, then he is MoS, you can't complain just because you feel Sam was the better player, that's your opinion, in the Player's opinion Chase was better. I have no problem with that.

The argument some people are making though is that some players will have voted for Rangi Chase not because they thought he was better than Sam Tomkins, but because they simply don't like Sam Tomkins & wouldn't want to see him win it.

You would have thought the whole of Leeds would have boycotted voting for Tomkins and a few other clubs with bitter players would have done the same purely based on jealousy and the fact he's embarrassed many of them on the field. MOS appears to be a personality contest amongst the players who have stood out the most during the season.

Do you have any proof of this? To say they didn't vote for him because they don't like him is a wild accusation to make without any proof.

Who had a bigger impact on Super League 2011, Sam Tomkins or Rangi Chase?
If your answer is Sam Tomkins you must concede the only reason other player's didn't vote for him is because they don't like him.

Do you have any proof (other than the tainted MOS award) that Rangi Chase is even fit to lace Sam's boots when it comes to being SuperLeague's best player?
To say that he won the vote WITHOUT tactical voting for "anyone but that finger-flicking Tomkins", therefore saying that he is, in fact, a better player, is quite simply beyond being "a wild accusation".

| Tomkins was better then Chase in 2011
Tomkins is a far better player then Chase overall
Both cold facts IMO yet Sam didn't win the MOS award and why? Pure jealousy as far as I can see and it comes down to a popularity contest amoungst the best 4 or 5 players IMO.
Let the coaches pick it.

| I think its far more likely that tomkins and roby split the vote as both had cracking seasons. Honestly the bitterness on this board is unbelievable, you all act like theres a huge conspiracy against wigan by the people that run the game, its ridiculous

| For me the best player last year was Roby! He carried Saints to the Grand Final. Rangi Chase missed a simple dg to get Cas to a CCF and went missing after that as Cas finished outside the playoffs . It was a joke how he won it.
Dont know how feasible it is but they should publish who voted for who in my opinion! Therefor you could judge if Tomkins was boycotted by certain teams and who actually voted for Chase!

I think you wildly underestimate the influence of James Graham on that Saints team - the proof of which has been seen in Saints early season form despite Roby being his usual ball hogging / stat filling self until his injury.

| The MoS is a joke. Not giving Sam the award last year was a typical example of the small-minded RL community shooting itself in the foot. We have the most naturally gifted player for decades, a young man who we should be promoting as one of the UK's top sports stars. And the muppets vote for Chase instead. You couldn't make it up.
