How many times has sam changed the game with his attacking? Half the game he passes to richards to run it back anyway, It's a complete waste of talent and i hope the new coach can see what is obvious. Sam and finch with tommy replacing micky or subbing or even find him a new position.

It's the ONLY downside to madges spell at wigan for me. I'd love to keep madge forever but Sam is not a full back. That is all.

Absolute rubbish. Sam is not only a fullback, he is easily the best in the league. I was expecting knee jerk reactions after tonight but this is ridiculous. He clearly wasnt fit and hasnt been for a few weeks now. Utilsing a fast, creative player at fullback is the way forward, as you can see from all the top FBs in Australia. We need a 6 to play alongside Finch or a hooker to spell with McIlorum while Tommy plays 7. Sam Tomkins will be Wigan and England fullback for the forseeable.

Richards doesnt have the hands or creative thinking to be a fullback in our system.

Sam hasn't looked fully fit for a while now - he's looking to avoid taking the ball up and he wasnt doing that earlier in the season - i actually think he has improved as a full back with his defensive work this season.

People need to accept that there wasnt enough in the tank this year for 2 final appearances. Our squad obviously needs strengthening in places to replace those leaving but some of the stuff being posted is simply nonsense. I'm not bickering by the way, just some opinions (and I am aware everyone is entitled to their own) really annoy me. Sam is dream team fullback this year, top tryscorer, writers player of the year and on the shortlist for MOS. Changing Sam's position is not what we should be looking at.

Sam is the best full-back in superleague and the world. Simple.

Definitely not. Beaten by the better team on the night. He was clearly limping at times tonght and he hasnt been anywhere near his best since Wembley.

Sam clearly has been playing hurt, and i think its obvious that all the hype and attention he has been getting, especially since Wembley has affected him. He will be a better player long term for it. Hopefully that is at Wigan!

Last few games (Saints, Cats and Saints again) I've seen him holding his shoulder, arm and doing a fair bit of limping at various stages of a game. It may just be wear an tear of a long season.

As a Saints fan even i can admit Sam is a cracking fullback,he is so dangerous joining the line and offers more in attack from fullback than he would from halfback,its obvious to anyone that has been watching that he isnt 100% but at this time of the season not many players are.The try he scored tonight was class,a great kick and he showed nice awareness and pace to touch down.

The fact is even if he is only 80% fit he offers that x factor that few in the league have.

It's not a knee jerk reaction and it is not absolute rubbish. I have been saying he should be playing 6 just about ever since he was switched to full back and giving my reasons.

28.30 he should have scored but if's and buts now we got beat by the better side i dont think Sam should be put back to 6 he's playing near a halfback roll atm

as a Saints fan ST is the real thing - I love watching him play

if Sam Tomkins was injured or moved to the halves, it would be crazy not to put Matt Russell to fullback. What is the use of having one of the best young players coming through and not using him.

As much I am delighted you got beat last night you don't need to over react like that. As much I dislike (yes it is jealousy) Sam Tomkins he is easily the best fullback if not player in the league. You don't need to worry where he plays you just need to make sure he is on the pitch and he will do his job.

Let's hope he can do it for England in te four nations.

The problem is not Sam. The problem is the fact he is our only strike threat and as such get all the attention from the defence. You add a strike half and centre teams have to watch them as well, not just Sam.

As a Saints fan i've got to say it's an awful feeling seeing him pick the ball up from FB and not pass it to richards or charnley. Englands best FB by far.
