| Reading a few posts on other sites across RL fans and in general I have noticed a lack of passion and motivation in people towards England and internationals in general. Personally, I have never had a REAL passion for the internationals and have always been a "club before country" person. What is everyone else's feelings towards Internationals...
Are you THAT bothered??

| Not passionate at all. Obviously want them to win but they rarely do so its hard to get passionate about. Theres alot of things the RFL get wrong, all this bollox where people like Faasavalu and Manu are allowed to play for England, the crap coaches, crap performances. Its just a poorly run set up so im not that bothered about it!

Me too. The good it would do the game of rugby league as a whole to have England win the World Cup would be enormous. Love international rugby league myself and am watching the France v Scotland European Cup match as I type. Went to Avignon last week to watch France cane Ireland and can't wait for the 4 Nations.
I've never understood why rugby fans will go down the pub or settle down on the couch to watch international football, yet can't make the same [ieffort[/i to watch rugby league.
The excuses that poured out for not watching/attending when we played the French at Leigh last year were embarrassing.

| I don't mind International RL but the constant tri/four nations events are getting a bit tedious. Prefer the three match test series.

I can honestly say I cannot put my finger on why it is that Im not bothered the same about internationals. Dont get me wrong I love rugby league but for some reason I just cant get passionate about Internationals. I mean lets be honest, Saints, Wire, Leeds, Wigan, Huddersfield all could of won SL this year, however, New Zealand or Australia WILL win the world cup, and WILL win the tri nations, I think the fact it is so predictable is why people arent bothered the same.

Im thinking more for the good of the game than the good of Wigan.
I've been lucky enough to see Wigan win more trophies in my lifetime (I know I'm an old b*gg*r) than any other RL team, but would love to see England / GB win the RL World Cup.

| I can't get passionate about the England thing in comparison to if it were Great Britain. I know it's essentially the same team but I would much rather see Great Britain win the Ashes than England win the world cup/four nations. Couldn't give a **** what the media think is more important it's what's more important to me that I care about.
That said I would still love us to win over there and would be out celebrating if we did.

We need the Ashes back asap IMO. That is the heartbeat of International RL, just like it is in cricket. England won the 20-20 world cup this year but hardly anyone cared. It's the ashes that people care about.

I wouldn't. Much as I'd love England to win, I'm definitely "club before country". Not trying to justify it in any way, it's just the way I am.
If I had to choose between watching Wigan or England, I'd choose Wigan every time.

| The problem with many 'club before country' people (and I'm not speaking about specific posters here) is that it is more club rather than country.

| So long as Wigans contingent come home fit I'll be happy. Yes I do want England to win. But I'm realistic and therefore put my in interests first.
Infact, I'd rather Sam sat it out with his groin. Even if it is to the detriment of the national teams chances.
I'd of also liked Lockers, Joel and Fielden to have had longer winters than gone over there with about as much chance of winning the comp as Quins have the SL

Yes, you can tell it's an honour for them to represent their country. Not many people get to do so and as the lads have said on many occasions, pulling on the white of England or the blue, white and red of GB is the stuff dreams are made of.

| I think the RFL made a mistake in separating the GB into England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales. Lets be honest, the game is played professionally in England and one club in Wales.
Why go to those lengths and create 4 sides out of one, and in effect making 4 weaker sides play against the strong sides of Australia and NZ?
If RL ever expands to those 4 nations it seems stupid to have a Scottish and Irish side.
I loved the Test Series that the GB side played against the Aussies, but a team called England does not have the same kudos about it.

Weaker? How many of the Scotland, Ireland or Wales players would get into the GB side?

As usual Brian I agree. I love Wigan with all my heart, but for me the International team comes first. I am pleased to say i also think we are starting to move in the right direction although it may be 5 year plus before we see the proof sadly.
Country over club every time for me. International rugby for me has to be the pinnacle of our game and my fondest memories of the game have come when we have turned the Aussies over.

Sorry I have to disagree, there was grown men in tears at old trafford, the club game has far more passion. Would you be in tears if England beat Australia??

One of the greatest nights as an RL or Wigan supporter was in Melbourne 1992 when we beat the Aussies.
Lager on the cornflakes for breakfast, singing in the rain, the Wigan six pack. Supporters from ALL clubs English on a fantastic high, I really can't explain it, but then was when I realised the importance of International RL.
