Pat was in Wigan this morning fully suited. Seems MM has got the preparation spot on. Beats getting stuck on the motorway, isn't there a big football match on? Traffic will be chaos around the time they would have been arriving had they gone over on game day.

Some people don't sleep well in hotels,and being at home can be better preparation for a game. But I like the idea the team is together, for the night before, the day's meals and rest, knowing they are ready to compete.

If you do, make sure you wear a hat.......

When we played both Leeds and Hull KR in the playoffs over the last few weeks Maguire removed the team from 'home life' and made them stay at the Wrightington Hotel the day before!! So it's nothing put of the ordinary for them.

I wouldn't be overly happy if Leeds were doing something similar but then again, each player to their own.

Leeds in the past has always preferred to travel to Grand Final on the day, with the coaches believing that the players would be happier in their "comfort zone" of spending the night before with their families. After all, hotels can be pretty boring places.

To be honest, there's an argument to say that Wigan are focusing more on the occasion, rather than the 80 mins. A walk around at Headingley? Really?

Yep, obviously the chance of a game on the hallowed turf of Headingley is going to the heads of the Wigan players(!)

That's not the point I was getting at. You do a walk around at Wembley or Old Trafford. You don't usually do them at a ground that everybody in your side is familiar with and that you've already been to twice this season. That (along with the media ban) is arguably overplaying the situation that you're going into. It may well be good preparation but it could equally be overkill. We'll find out tomorrow.

I'm not sure that I would appreciate staying in a hotel in Wigan before a game in Leeds. OK, look at Leeds game in the run up but I would be more of a day-away from the game person. Good to Leeds to look at a pitch, feels a little like over preparation to me and the constant reminder/pressure wouldn't be a great thing.

Get to the dressing room for the pre-match and I would be getting to the point where I was sick of the nagging!

Mind you, I always hated the performance some went through in the dressing room. Turn up, get changed and then go an knock seven shades out of the other team didn't need a song and dance before.

Im not surprised you havent. Sky TV and Broadband have only just reached wigan. Give it a few years.
