| No room for Hoffman, Finch or Lima?
I'd go with what you've got.

Spell the hookers and keep the disruption of the team to a minimum. Sick of seeing an average/poor kicking game so I'd give Deacs another go this week.

Think the game on Friday is made even more difficult given that we lost against wire. Another defeat means we'll be going to Leeds the week after under even more pressure so I'd play Deacon at 7, who has plenty of experience. I also feel Deacon could have settled us down on Friday when Briers bossed the majority of the game.

Unless he's still slightly injured I think Amos needs as much game time as possible. We need him back in his early season form ASAP!

| Whoever gets named in the 17, I hope we play a full 17-man game rather than wasting a bench spot again. I'd probably give Deacon a longer run-out than he got on Friday and stick Sam at full-back for the full 80. Most of the rest of the team seems to pick itself when fit.
We've generally responded very well to losing games so far this year; in fact, other than February when we won all four, we've lost one game a month and won the rest of them. Hopefully July's defeat is out of the way and we can land two massive results in the next fortnight.

He does but in my view he should be regaining fitness in the Under 20s.

| The defeats against Leeds and Dire lead me to the conclusion we must play a full complement of 4 props whenever possible, especially against the top teams.
If that means one of/both Feka and Davies have to play, so be it.

I agree. I can't see any logic in doing otherwise.

Davies definitely deserves a shot, IMO - I wonder if the only reason he wasn't picked for us was because of the NRC final, in which he had an excellent game.

Going off that game he should be a shoe-in to play this Friday. I can't see Madge putting the priorities of Widnes before ours though. If Maguire thought Davies should have played against Wire, he would have. No question

| I think the coaching staff need to sit down and have a think about Amos. We have 8 weeks before the playoffs and i think a plan should be struck up now to make sure he is back in top form ready for Week 1. There is no point in just keep playing him week after week and him not improving. A fully fit Roberts could be the little difference between winning the comp and losing it.

Exactly - Amos against Warrington early in season to Amos last week!
Massive difference, i wouldnt mind if we was struggling without him but we have won more games without him

| Firstly could Faz play hooker? If so we can keep Tommy and Sam at halfback when Piggy goes off, if not then against a weakened Hull side (no Fitzgibbon or O'Meley + possible bans for Tickle and is it Moa?) we'd have no problem moving Joel to centre and Gleeson to stand off, Sam at scrum half. I don't think we need 4 props but with Leeds just around the corner it'd really help Fielden and Prescott if Davies played or even Feka for 15 mins or so per half the alternative is having Mossop at prop probably meaning Tuson keeping his place (I think it'd be a shame to drop him after a good performance v Wire so could keep him in and give Prescott a rest which he possibly looks like he could do with, again playing Mossop at prop where necessary). We don't need Deacon imo because we're more than capable of creating overlaps and relying on Lockers and Sam, in particular to get the ball out to Pat on the wing without needing a kick to the corner every last tackle and when we do kick we're as well just kicking it high in the general direction of Tansey and putting him under pressure because he's bound to make a good few errors leaving us with a great attacking position. I've been to watch Hull a few times this season and quite frankly as long as we turn up we shouldn't have any problems and with Wane getting the players motivated I can't see this being an issue. I think Houghton is probably the man to watch. Re Amos I'd have him in the U20s to see if he can score a few and get some confidence back. I'd put Pat at fullback and bring Pryce in.

I really wish clubs could name 6 subs even if they could only use 4 in order for coaches to be able to react to how the game is going, replace injured players with the correct position more often to avoid shifting the entire team around.

Really like this idea of 6 subs - a bit like football. It would certainly benefit Wigan who have a large squad of capable players.
Can someone important on this site suggest this idea to the RFL?

Six subs, two should be under the age of 21, but no interchanges, once you're off, you're off. Stamina SHOULD be a part of the game.

Why would it slow it down? Surely it would allow the skilful players a little more room and time as fatigue sets in. You would still have six substitutions.
