The main factor in this is that the walkway around the North Stand (cricket side) is shut off. Hence having to send all North stand ticket holders down the sides and having quite a crush when getting to their seats, instead of being able to use the top entries in the north.

Admittedly, it is a farce. But crowd safety is no.1!

The sooner Headingly gets a new North & South stand the better.

I know there isnt alot they can do with the away end, but Im almost certain they could dig it out and rebuild it to be a standing end with a roof and just lose the 2 corners with the floodlights in.

I understand that is the case, but how does the North stand problem take 10,000 off the capacity. They could just close that stand.

To be honest though, is this slightly in Wigans favour? Less home support but really good away support. Leeds will not be using their usual dressing rooms. Their usual home matchday experience will be different. Could this have an impact? Maybe, maybe not.

Agreed, I honestly think that they'll shut the top half of the north off and reduce the capacities in the West and Carnegie.

Aye the SS changing rooms will be in play, unless, they're shifted upstairs to one of the suites in the north/carnegie. Tis to your advantage with out doubt. How much it will affect them is anyone's guess though.

ANd all because the cricket is playing on the same day. In that case, Leeds should be compelled to either offer to play the game at Wigan, or move to another venue, for instance, Elland Road. Leeds United are out of season now, so it shouldn't be a problem.

But 10k for a big CC game between RL's two biggest clubs, and one that's going to be on the TV? What a joke.

Course you would. This is a massive game for an underperforming, but improving Leeds, and an overachieving Wigan in a knockout quarter final. Potential 20k gate easy.

You're right - no chance at all. I'm pretty sure the last cup game against Leeds at Headingley was somewhere around the 10k mark.

That being said, this move makes the Leeds club and the game look amateurish and second rate.

I guess it's only a Saturday afternoon game because BBC selected it for coverage? Otherwise, Friday 8pm made more sense to me - would've avoided any clash at all with the cricket next door.

How many tickets can you get from one season ticket ?

Two Leeds Wigan cup games were played in 2007 and 2008 - one was definitely a quarter final. One brought in 9,6k and the other brought in 10,1k.

This reminds me of something that was blown completely out of proportion back in 2004 when the Halton Stadium was picked as the venue for the Wigan v Wire cup semi. Everyone was convinced the tie could have brought in 20k + whilst in the end the Halton Stadium didn't even sell out.

When season ticket holders can't get in for free (for any game) there will always be a huge decline in the potential attendance.
