What are peoples views on his debut? I thought he gave a decent account of himself. Made decent yards ball in hand and it was good to see him have the confidence to go for the corner too, even if it might have been better to pass to Goulding. Defensively he made his tackles and seemed to get better as the match went on, the only problem there is he was hanging off players a bit, maybe he needs to pack down a little more muscle. I'd like to see him get another run next week depending on who we have available.

Was given a big task to play against such an experienced player in Paul Whaturia, except for early on he did pretty good

I though as the game went on he got more confident in attack and defence

I love how he backed himself to score when he was running in at the corner. He made a couple of errors in defence but he didn't look out of his deapth. I hope he plays next week.

He did enough to keep his place against Widnes.

He tightened up our defence on that side and didn’t look as out of place as what Bailey did last week.

He did ok. Although if we had gleesion at centre i still think goulding would have been put in for 2 more tries.

Good on the lad though, we won so there is no need to dwell on the two opportunities.

Said the same thing at the game. It was uncanny when he had the ball and brought back some murrayfield memories from 2002.

As for his preformence it was lively going forward and his defence got better as the game went on. He looked a little nervous early doors in defence and he got run over the top of a couple of times but he got to grips eventually and looks like another very handy young player to have coming through.

Marsh certainly didn't look out of place despite it being his debut in what was probably a very difficult match to play in. He defended quite well and was keen to make the tackles. He did get caught out on his inside a couple of times which may be a weakness but no young player is perfect in defence.
There is the option of having Goulding at centre and Marsh on the wing without making drastic changes if Gleeson isn't back for next week. Although if Gleeson does return Marsh may still get selected on the wing if Phelps hasn't recovered from his niggling injury or if Richards' injury causes him any more trouble.

Marsh certainly looks an exciting player and was very quick off the mark when he backed himself for the line before being edged into touch. Hopefully he'll get another chance soon where he may get more of an opportunity to show what he can do in attack.

The people I was watching the game with said he should have passed rather than going for the corner, and they're probably right, but I love a player who will back himself like that, a player who makes no errors seldom comes up with game-winning plays either. I remember Kevin Brown always used to take those chances and often screwed up, as he's progressed those screw ups have started to turn into wonder-plays

When Hodgson (I think) broke down the wing and Marsh tracked back and dragged him into touch was good to see that a young lad isnt scared of doing the hard graft needed at SL level against opponents who are established in the Super League.

Yeah that was probably Marsh's best moment, he wasn't going to give Hodgson chance to step him or run round him, just got straight in his face.

If I'm being honest (as brian always is with our youth) I wasn't very impressed with him. Don't get me wrong he did ok but I don't see what he's got. He don't seem to have anything about him in terms of size, pace or skill.

I'm prob wrong and it's first time I've seen him but I don't think he's going to be 1st team player for you pies over next few years.

IMO he had a good debut , My only concern was the couple of tackles he missed looked like lazy arm tackles. Having said that the boy done good

Regards him going for the corner, i felt Goulding let him down on that play gave him no option simply ran a lazy line that gave Marsh no option to pass to him or put a bit of doubt in the opposition players mind to give Marsh a bit more space.

Yeah! I Mean at 19 yrs old making his debut at a large stadium up against a NZ International What did he do? I mean it's not like he's scoring tries for fun at his own Age Level (Albeit he's played 2 years above his own Age Level for the last 2 years) and You've obviously seen a massive amount of him to form a reasoned Judgement.

His Pace is terrible, I mean every week at U20 level (Again Bearing in mind he's played at that level since he was 17) He's getting caught (NOT) After making his Umpteenth Break of the day!

yeah, I was just about to post he was playing against one of the leagues best centre/wing partnership. he didnt do bad at all.

Goulding didnt need to come inside, all Marsh had to do was pass the ball and it was a try in the corner. He wrongly went for glory and in a closer game that could have been very costly. If Gleeson had been playing then it would have been a try, as would the other one when Marsh did a very poor pass. I agree though that Marsh struggled but he looks more like a winger than a centre to me. It is all good experience for him and he will learn from his mistakes but he looks a long way off being a regular first team player.
