Well strangely enough, there is a point here!
Apparently the drainage system taking the water away from the ground is actually Lower than the Leeds/Liverpool meaning it doesn't drain away like it should!
I think she's asking after all the furore over the state of the pitch?
PS
I'm not saying it deffo is but just what I heard

The river is not higher than the ground for starters but the ground the stadium is built on is very much marsh land.
If the river was higher than the ground the water table would mean the pitch was flooded all the time.
And even if the water table was higher than the ground with the correct dewatering pumping system in place the pitch would be dry at all times. Its all down to a bad winter and grass not growing in winter from what i ahve seen there is to much sand on the top of the pitch and that is what is cutting up just now no grass to bind it.

You should be able to dig a hole deeper then the Leeds liverpool at the side of it and it should not fill with water. The canal is lined with puddling clay to keep the water in.

Exactly. Its just simple over use and Latics being forced to train on it when the weather was bad in January. On Sunday the ground will host it's 7th match in 3 weeks - you can't expect a carpet pitch in winter with that much use.
I collect old dvds of Wigan and they show the pitch in far worse state than it is now, even two years ago. I've not watched the two wigan games so far and thought, hmmm the pitch isn't good is it. Maybe I'm blind though lol.
As for the drainage, I was under the impression that they sorted that out when they did the big work on the pitch in 2008.

7th game in 3 weeks, what are they expecting? I suggest they only have themselves to blame for the heating breaking that time!

So was i well at least thats what was said. I don't think it was drainage that was the problem i think it was due to the sand being wet like playing on Southport beach.

| ManU have daylight lamps suspended on scaffolding approx 3ft above the pitch when they are not playing, which is why there surface is lush and green and latics isnt - get DW to put his hand in his pocket and spend some of the Valencia transfer fee on something similar, rather than blaming the Warriors for the stste of the pitch

| Man U also raised the pitch by about 30cm (1 foot in old money ) to help with the drainage.

So do Bolton and most P.L. clubs with sun lamps on to fool the grass into growing in winter. I seam to remember some time ago DW made a big thing about this state of the art tent he hot to help the grass to grow and protect the pitch.
When the pitch was relayed wasn't the drainage done at the same time if so surly sump holes have been made in the corners and electric pumps on float switches installed to get rid of the excess water.

| Latics did indeed use a tent and lamps.
However the numpties in charge put the lamps too close to the turf causing scorching down the complete length of the pitch.
Great move.

| Bolton have a similar lamp system. Makes a big difference in the winter. It's expensive though. DW would have to put your rent up to help pay for it.

They did that and scorched a line from one end of the pitch to the other. Right down the middle to suit their route one football.

| The ones at manU are on robot wheels and move slower than the eye can see but avoids focussing on any one area too long to avoid scortching.
Im betting DW just got a job lot of sunbeds from the JJB fitness centres and though 'that'll do just fine and Ive saved £300k on what ManU spend!'

| No matter how bad the pitch is, surely its the same for both teams, and (looking at the Latics position) it drags the better teams down to their level, so why do they complain ?
