| Just read on Teletext that Maguire told the players to turn up for training yesterday with enough kit for the weekend and has taken them on a suprise training weekend at an army base
It sounds like he's really putting them through their paces and no player should have an excuse for not being in good shape come the start of the season.

| All but praise for magtops so far seems he is very well disaplined when setting the players with tasks to get fit and liked how he sent the acadamy lads on a work placement to show them how lucky they are very well done so far.

News like this makes me excited about the new season and the players should be a lot mentally and physically tougher for experiences like this.

| Good idea there from McGuire, both a physical training exercise as well as a bonding experience for the players.
I can't wait to see what Feka will look like after this preseason.
I'm most looking forward to seeing him play, hopefully we'll see a more energized and useful player than before, doing increased minutes and not being a defensive weakness for the team.

i did a three day course with them. lost a stone and a half. would be good for the likes of feka and piggy. they beast the fook out of you

| Holcombe Moor is cold in the middle of summer.
Not that they'll be cold by the time the Army's finished with them.
They have done this before, they went to train with the Paras some years ago.

Stone and a half = 14 x 1.5 x 4500 = 94500 calories.
3 days- pull the other one, it's got bells on it.
On the other hand, maybe he did run the 9000 miles he would have needed to to lose it...................

I think through dehydration it's possible, of course that's not real weight loss in the way that losing fat is.
I seem to remember reading a few years back that Jamie Peacock lost the best part of a stone in 80 minutes through dehydration playing on a extremely hot Sunday afternoon.

Alonso lost a stone in weight during the Bahrain grand prix this season. he then fainted as soon as he got out the car

| I have been weighed at 96 kilos at the beginning of a hard endurance training session run by a former Para PTI.
At the end I was 91.5 kilos.
The day after, following fluid replacement, I was back to 96.
Over 6 months training hard 6 days a week, my weight stayed the same but my body fat reduced considerably, and the amount of muscle increased.
Hopefully something similar will,take place with the players over the off season.

| exactly, i didn't say i lost a stone and a half of fat, just a stone and a half as per the scales, the weight went back on when i got back. It was just a point to show how hard you get worked. i was fifteen stone when i went and came back 13.5. After a few days i was back to about fourteen and a half. Some people have to try and be clever s.
