He has a deal in place but is going through a divorce and will not sign it until after it is finalised over the next few days/weeks.

Its a done deal, he is just looking after his bank balance.

He wouldn't come back to Wigan anyways. Plus he's too injury prone.

It was a real plea if ever i have seen one for Wigan to come in for him.

He's a better version of bailey IMO.

A work house 2nd row who can also fill in at centre if needed.

Disagree in all honesty and that's even when you don't take into account that Paul Johnson hasn't played a near enough full year in god knows how long. Bailey bar the Achilles problem has barely missed a game to my knowledge.

Though there was one stage around the Endacott era I believe when Johnson got a run of 5-6 games at centre and was looking genuinely top class. Sadly he was disrupted by one of many long term injuries. Pretty much the same thing happened to him in 2008 after he had a blinder in the Saints Cup game for Warrington.

Agreed. I can't see a place for PJ at Wigan. Would of loved him back here a few seasons ago but now he is too injury prone IMHO. Still a good player and will bring vast experience to Wakey but here he would block the path to the first team for the likes of Mossop/Farrell/Tuson etc etc.

He is one of the players I wish we had been able to keep.

We would have a much more settled team had we kept these 3 now.

Lets not forget Johnson and Gilmour are both about 4/5 years older than Hock & Lockers!

Think about how many 2nd row players we've had since Gilmour left and you'll realise both could have easily played alongside Lockers & Hock.

I personally would have much prefered Gilmour 2 have stayed at Wigan and give 10+ years service than see the likes of Furner and Fletcher being brought in as stop gaps!

He's not done anything since he left you lot. Had one good international series and then never kicked on from it.

You haven't missed him, both O'Loughlin and Hock (brain farts excepted) are better than him.

Furner is three times the player of any of them. One of the best second rowers of the past 10 years.

Gilmour, Wild and Johnson are all good players but when you compare them to what we have (or had in Hock) there's no contest IMO.

One side of the coin I wish we'd of kept one or two - flip it over and in a way I'm glad they are gone as it paved the way for the likes of Hock and O'Loughlin to make the first team.

I agree that he most defo is! Furner as you said was a top player but how long was he at Wigan for? IMO I would have rather seen a long term good player like Gilmour at the club for 10+ years than Furner for two/three.

It's not always about who is the better player but sometimes it's about building a long term spine for the team. Take another example of Long vs Lam- now there is no doubt who the better player was but who had the biggest contribution 2 their team? Would you rather have had long for 10 years or Lam for three?

As a matter of interest is Hock still being paid by Wigan? The whole story after his ban seems to have been buried in the archives and forgotten about!!!
