Myler rejects longer Salford deal

Myler has become one of the hottest properties in Super League rugby
Salford City Reds scrum-half Richie Myler has turned down an offer of a new contract at the Super League club, according to his agent Martin Offiah.

The 19-year-old England international has been linked with Warrington but is contracted to Salford until the end of next season.

"Salford have made him an offer, which he has rejected," Offiah told the League Express.

"He has another year on his deal but things may change."

Myler was one of the star performers in England's impressive victory over France in Paris this month, where he scored 30 points.

Offiah added: "Richie showed against France what he is capable of when he is surrounded by quality players.

1) we dont have the money to pay a transfer fee
2) we dont need a scrum half, and if we did it would be an experienced head on a 1 year deal

Yeah would probably have to go with wire, regardless of whether be would be right for Wigan and vice versa ,would be interesting to now whether we have expressed the slightest interest in him?

He's going to Wire to work with his international boss.

Given the speed at which the contract has been rejected i would assume he already knows exactly where he will be playing his rugby for the 2010 season, and that is most likely Wire.

I think while we have no coach and the England coach is at Wire we may be fighting a losing battle.

We MUST confirm a coach asap for 2010, that is vital to our prospects.

That's a pretty big statement to make, hope it's true, certainly love to see him in a Wigan shirt, yeah there would be issues but if the club and players worked hard enough at it I'm sure they could make it work.

Firstly... Offiah told him to reject the deal (or should I say rejected it for him)... with a view to him signing for Warrington. Forget him coming to Wigan because he's an ex-player... He's being buttered up by Warrington... that's where he's going... simple.

The only connection he has with Warrington is through his dad. I was told it was between Warrington and Wigan.

I agree. It will come down to money, also his International coach may also put the ball in Wire's court, if the deals offered are of a similar nature.

I'm trying to save you all from getting too excited here, and waste your time speculating.

Warrington are looking after Offiah... and Offiah is looking after Warrington. There's no sentiment where money is concerned, and Warrington have made all the right noises... promises will be in place unless Myler suddenly has a huge change of heart and decides to put his foot down and stay.

Not if Myler's like me, Tony Smith has to be the most boring man on the planet, plus Myler might find it appealing to play under Lam if we get him.
