| Stronger squad than I expected. I thought we may see guys like Makin and Eseh in (probably for the best that Eseh goes and gets regular games at Leeds though).
I'd rest Marshall, Smith, Thompson and Farrell for a few reasons (Injuries, concussion risks, age and I'd expect them all to be involved for England next week) and the side then picks itself from the rest with French at 1, Hampshire 6 and Farrimond 7. Douglas to get another game on the wing, which I'm looking forward to seeing.

| Hopefully Wane has given Peet the nod on who he intends to select next week.
I'd be looking to go as strong as possible for this. Once the final whistle blows, the majority of the team will be looking at having 2 weeks off. There are very few compelling reasons to rest anyone for this week (unless they need it, or are playing for England). We also need to start work on reducing the points deficit Vs Saints.

I'm easy either way but Peet has already said he's going to play some young players who've been waiting for a chance (presume he means Farrimond and Douglas looking at the squad). In truth, we should be able to rack up some points regardless of the make up of the 17 against London, as long as the attitude is good. If I look back to the away game we put 60 on them with a weakened side, so what I'd like to see is a better attitude to defending against them.

| Go full strength and then have Waney pick every Englishman from St helens to take part in the international, leaving our players to have a well-deserved break.

I’d imagine Saints will pick up a few ‘injuries’ on Sunday. A complete coincidence that they’ll all be English.

Well Knowles, Batchelor, Walmsley, Lomax and Makinson are already injured
That only leaves Percival, Lees, Clark and Welsby if any are selected.

| Who are we likely to see in the England squad from a Wigan POV.
Marshall, Wardle, Thompson, Smith O’Neill, Havard, Dupree maybe even Junior ?
I’d be tempted to give the lads who haven’t had a break a week off this week if possible.

Wane has indicated it'll be a younger squad so it's hard to say but if I ignore ages and put players in probables and possibles, I'd go-
Probables
Wardle
Smith
Thompson
Farrell (if he can be bothered, I'm not sure I would be if I were him)
Possibles
Marshall
O'Neill
Havard
Dupree
Nsemba
IMO Marshall and O'Neill should be selected without a shadow of a doubt. A hooking partnership of O'Neill and Clark would be excellent. Marshall has outperformed every winger in superleague this season.

Let's play "Saints injuries for International duty that play the following week" bingo:

To be fair, Welsby has always made himself available. If Wane is looking for the younger lads then Delaney will have more of a chance of being selected than the likes of Percival and Clark. Welsby would be a guaranteed pick I would imagine along with Lees

Pretty sure Welsby won't be involved, Wane did an interview were he said him and Williams "had credit in the bank".
Hopefully for us Thompson falls into that category, we could do with him picking Dupree though, get some minutes in his legs before what's a very big July for us

It's the Wigan in him
There probably is no need to pick Welsby but there is such a lack of fullback options open to Wane, so I could see him picking him and him probably being captain again with Williams likely to be unavailable.
With your club head on, you don't mind players being rested/not selected but the lads themselves deserve to play if they want to, so with that in mind I do hope guys like Thompson and O'Neill get call ups because I think they've earned them.

I read that but I don't understand why having credit in the bank would mean he doesn't play them. This is the only game before the Autumn tests. We're already without the NRL contingent. There's very little point to this game (in terms of preparation) if we're not playing all the available SL players too. I understand the point regarding trying new players but that has to be alongside seasoned internationals or you're not maximizing the benefit to those new players. It would, in effect, be a glorified Knights game.

| Enjoyed that more that I thought I would. London gave it a decent crack. Shame we didn’t score off that move just before half time - would have been a try of the season contender.
One thing that’s annoyed me recently - why do always resort to that “na na na na - you’re s**t” song. Just classless and at odds with everything else about the club at the moment. Particularly on nights like tonight where the oppo have put a lot of effort in.

Totally agree.
I thought they gave it a good go and the result was slightly flattering.
Thought their 3 gave us a few problems and he looked pretty capable.

| I don’t mind the chant, just leave the you’re s*** bit out. That bit has no class.
I think chants should be to get behind the team, not to degrade the opponents. Leave the low level stuff to the likes of Warrington.

The origins of that didn’t have that the “you’re ****” bit in it.
Used to be great.
From memory it was Wire away in about 2012, we were getting battered so our end were just chanting that song for about 10 mins none stop. The Wire fans added the “youre ***” bit which was funny to be fair
That seemed to catch on and a lot of people won’t remember the original.

| Decent performance overall - although our right side defense looks a bit suspect at times, some improvement needed there against better teams - London borke down that side three or four times. We looked a bit disconnected at times on that side.
Farrimond was impressive on his home debut , looked like he was blowing quite a bit at the end, but fair dos - 7 is a very difficult position to start as a young player given how much it is a fulcrum of the team and he can kick goals as well which is another bonus.Hampshire improved a bit on recent performances - seemed more steady.
We are fortunate to have so many young players to call on, we could rest several players and still put out a strong side.
