The last two games played we've scored more tries (against hudds) same number of tries against hull and goal kicking has let us down. Now before you all go off on one I actually like Escare as a kicker the only problem for me is that he seems to rush the kicks and doesn't seem to prepare properly. I think if he masters that he will become a great kicker, all great kickers that I've seen through the years had great preparation before each kick. I await the knives

Nowt wrong with having an opinion. He's been a better goal kicker than most of us thought he would be (can't remember him ever kicking for Catalans) but obviously he's not going to be perfect at it. Can't say I've studied him but if he's rushing, like you say, hopefully at some point he'll learn to take his time and compose himself.

Is there a time limit on goal kicks?

I'm away for the weekend so had to listen to the game last night on the radio. When Marshall scored the last try, Jack Hunt was talking about it on radio Manchester when all of a sudden he seemed to have to break away quickly to say Escare had missed the kick. It seemed unbelievably fast and with that the kick to potentially tie the scores I'd have thought he'd have really taken his time.

Most of our tries these last few weeks have been in the corner. He doesn't miss by far.

Seems a bit strange people are happy with him as a kicker when his average is worse than Matty Smith's was. It's early days for him and if he keeps his place in the team when injuries are less of an issue, (I think he should) he could really develop into a great player for us. I've been very impressed by him but I hope he can improve his goal kicking!

Averages don't tell the whole story, though, especially so early in his kicking career. As Matty B points out, we've been scoring a lot right on the touchline, both sides, recently; he's not had that many easy ones to up his average. And even Brough missed a sitter against us, nobody's perfect!

As I said mate I'm a big fan of the lad. We always seem to score out wide and have done for years due to our attacking style. Averages don't tell the whole story but a lot of folk were on Smiths back for poor goal kicking, myself included. Many of the same people are singing Escare's praises. Sneyd is showing the benefit of being a good goal kicker. Hull generally go up in 6's and it makes a huge difference.

lets wait till the end of the season when the averages are evened out, I certainly dont think smith was any better at all than him.

Missing by a whisker or missing by 10ft is still a miss. But if he took his time then the ones that aren't far off might start turning into "in by a whisker" rather than "out by a whisker". I still think he's a good goal kicker but he could become even better.

Just wondering if anyone else noticed one of the touchies put his flag up on the last kick from Escare before putting it down again presumably after a call from the other touch judge. Couldn't tell from the video whether it went over or not but must have been very close.

I couldn't really tell being in the south stand, but there was a groan from the Boston stand so it probably did miss.

Didn't notice the touch judges but it was nowhere near.

The last conversion attempt was a fair bit wide, the groan was most likely due to it being a kick to level the scores and missing. His first kick was only just wide of the mark however. If any kick had one flag up and one down I would have thought it would have been that one.

We've had a terrible goal kicker since pat left and have made the Grand Final every year, winning last year.

You don't sign goal kickers you sign players who can play rugby and the best kicker in that team will kick.

Wind your neck in, no one has said we need a new kicker or even ridiculed Escare, all that's been said is for him not to hurry his kicks.

Escare has been terrific for us so far this season, and I think that far outweighs a few percentage points in goal-kicking. And as pointed out upthread, we are still early into the season.

Maybe he was rushing a bit, but to be fair the clock was ticking and we needed every second.

Escare struggles to kick from the left. He missed two on Friday form that side that were about 10m in from the touchline. Conversely he landed one from the touchline on the right He's left footed and seemingly hasn't worked out how to deal with that.

He has the power and distance so to me it looks like he needs some coaching help for kicking from the left side of the pitch.

Perhaps if/when Escare gets a new contact the club will invest in hiring a goal kicking coach for him.
He's already a good goal kicker but he could be far better with good coaching.

The last kick was 6inches in from the touchline.

As a leftie, he's going to struggle more when kicking from the left touchline.

Hopefully, he does what Richards did, and goes out and does hours and hours of practice.

That is not my recollection, I could be wrong but having watched him, in my opinion he struggles when kicking from the left hand side of the pitch.

I still think your using this point to "have a go" when nothing had been said for the previous 6/7 games.

I am sure you could go on. You have tried to turn a simple observation of mine that I think our goal kicker kicks better from one side of the pitch than another into "having a go".

Despite agreeing with what I said. Well done you. I am sure there is some logic in your head that justifies this somewhere.

Well done on only quoting the where I agreed with you and ignoring the other points.

Did you or did you not see the reply on the other site to your incorrect observation? That's what I pointed out along with someone else's observation that certain posters seem very quiet until a loss.
3/3 last night from the left and all of them were actually more or like the 10metres in you described last week.

I agree on the better from the right point of view as I guess stickers will be better from o e side or the other or will have a preferred side.
