For me it would have to be without doubt Billy Boston and Brian McTigue. The story's I hear from older supporters about the way these two played the game is unbelievable. Even the limited footage I've seen of the two of them, shows what great players they were.

I would have loved to have seen the both of them live in the flesh gracing Central Park. Unfortunately it was a little before my time.

I know he played for wire but it has to be Bevan for me some of my earliest RL memories when i started playing & loving the game as a youngster are off my grandad raving about how good he was

I was lucky enough to see Billy B, McTigue, Murphy, Bolton, Fox, Van Voll & Bevan etc. However my mam still talks about Tommy Bradshaw, Ces Mountford and Brian Nordgren, so they are the players I would love to have seen.

I remember Boston lacing up the boots for a testimonial I think it was Colin Clarkes, there were players from Everton and Georgie Fame turned up, it was quite a few years later that I heard that he had been a decent player before he turned to a musical career.

One of Clive Powell (Georgie Fames) best mates was Frankie Parr.
Slightly off topic, he (Georgie Fame) turned up one afternoon at the Riverside Club for one of Billy B's testimonial events and did about an hour on stage. Fantastic afternoon.

My wish is not just a player but a stadium as well . I would loved to have seen Billy Boston at Central Park . Or even just a game at Central Park , but alas before my conversion to RL .

Luke Davico - i missed his 2 minute Wigan career

Rogues. I saw most of those players you mentioned (not to sure about Bradshaw and Mountford).
I remember going to Central Park on a Wednesday night (late August 1955 I think) and England were playing the 0ther Nationalities,if my memory is correct the other Nationalities threequarters lined up as follows.

Brian Bevan RW.
Billy Boston RC.
Lewis Jones LC.
Brian Nordgren LW.

That was a backline to savour.

I have just done a quick check on the facts I posted above,it was the 12th of September 1995, score Other Nationalities 33 England 16 attendance 18,000,no details of scorers though.

Saw Billy B, McTigue, Bevan, Lewis Jones and that generation.
My father used to talk well about Martyn Ryan, and thought Johnny Ring was the fastest wingman he'd ever seen and the best, until Billy B arrived.
The ones I'd like to have seen are Ryan, Ring, Jim Sullivan, Charlie Seeling and Lance Todd.

Saints fans wax lyrical about when Meninga had his summer over here. I missed that. Although I saw him play in the '94 series I don't think he was at his best.

Kevin Ward is another one that I didn't get to see for Saints.

Should have put 1955 there instead of 1995.

Was lucky enough to see Boston (still the best Wigan player I've seen) and McTigue, I would loved to have watched Joe Egan and of course, Jim Sullivan.

Didn't see the younger Meninga but did seem him a few times in the early 90s. Incredible player. As big and strong as the most powerful forward, hands like a half-back and quick for a big man.

Ward was a truly great player. If he were playing today he would destroy the likes of Morley and Graham.

Anyway, enough bigging up Stains players!

The three players I would like to have seen (in no particular order):

3. Boston!

I wish I HADN'T seen him play!

I can go back to the late 1950s so saw Boston, Ashton and McTigue for Wigan as well as Murphy for Saints.

Remember Bill Ashurst and his family from the Ince area who used to shout "there's our Bill" at Central park.

As my Dad can remember from the late 1920s he missed the sublime 'Leytham, Jenkins Todd and Miller' threequarter line.But he did see often Jim Sullivan and one of his schoolmates was Martin Ryan.

I would have loved to have seen the colossus that was Jim Sullivan, also the 'Blackball bullet', Ces Mountford, and Tommy Bradshaw.

Wigan have had so many great players since the start and throughout the game we call Rugby League, well over 100 years ago.
