| After reading the saints board the other day i was just wondering if you would bid for any of there out of contract players for next year.
Graham 2011
Roby 2011
Eastmond 2011
I would like to get eastmond and get rid of ryan hoffman and amos roberts as they are luxury players and we dont really need them if you look at the current squad numbers. Which player would you bid for and how much even thou they only have a year left on there contracts.

Eastmond is not built for RL i fear. His body seems unable to take strain.
And to say that Amos and Hoffman are luxury players is nonsense. Amos on his day is one of the most dangerous players in SL

| So having seen Amos have a cracking season until injury and never seen Hoffman play for Wigan you want to get rid? And get rid of two players for Eastmond who so far seems to be pretty injury prone.

| Amos played well for 10 games in 2 years goobervision and hoffman is a waste of money when we have farrell, tuson, mossop, hansen,j tomkins, hock when he returns etc going for 2 spots and as for eastmond he is one of the best backs in england when he is fit so yeah i would swap them players for him plus getting rid of 2 overseas players and geting an english player also with eastmond and tomkins we could have the english 6,7 for the next decade

| Eastmonds too injury prone (as said already in this thread).
Graham will sign a bumper new deal with them, and will be made captain to sweeten the deal for him.
Roby is a player I like, but I see him heading to Oz tbh.

That is a massive comment to make tbh, Hoffman has a lot more experience than the majority of the players named there, plus he's only here for a season (maybe 2)

Wouldn't have Eastmond. Can have the occasional great game, but too inconsistent and too injury-prone.
Graham & Roby, possibly, but wouldn't break the bank for them.

| I think it is perhaps a tad too early to say he is injury prone. Has he just been unlucky or is he truly injury prone? If you could guarantee his fitness, then yes I would have him without hesitation. Sadly, jou cannot guarantee it, but I would probably still have a gamble and take him, but obviously the price/contract would have to reflect this. If any Saints fans are reading this, would you want him to go (obviously not to Wigan)?
As for getting shut of Hoffman (never seen play) and Amos (probably in the same bracket as Eastmond above), don't talk wet.

You can't just ignore Eastmond's injury record; at present, that blows away any notion that he's a guaranteed England 6 for the next decade. For a youngster, he's on the treatment bench with alarming regularity. Sure, he may just have been astonishingly unlucky, but quite often this sort of thing means that either his body's not up to the game or his head isn't. In any case, in the few times when Amos fired last season, he looked 20 times more deadly than I've ever seen Eastmond (though admittedly I've only seen Eastmond's TV games).
At the end of the day, I'd love to have a talent at Wigan like Eastmond, but not the way he is at present, and not at the expense of the two players you mention. Now Roby might be another matter. If Roby was available, I'd seriously hope Wigan would be enquiring.

| I think Hoffman will be a lot more of an asset to us than some people think. In those big home games we lost last season (Saints, Wire, Leeds in the play-offs and even Hudds) we definately lacked that bit of experience and steel in our pack. Someone who will make the right decisions when the pressure is really on. Tuson and Farrell are great talents but their lack of experience did show at times which is understandable.

| Sadly, I don't think Eastmond has the physical and mental strength fulfill a 12/13 year career in Rugby League. Hope he proves me wrong.
I'd take Graham in a heartbeat.
In regards to Roby, he's too good to play off the bench. Let's take a look at McIlorum this season and see how he adapts to having the number 9 on his back. I think he'll have a stormer personally.

| Eastmond played 19 out of the 27 Super League games in 2010, scoring 15 tries. He got unlucky with a bad ankle injury, and instead of letting it heal properly they kept on putting him back in the team. On the whole, he doesnt seem particularly injury prone to me - especially compared to someone like Gary Wheeler who plays a couple of games then misses a couple with a different niggly injury each time.

Hasn't he needed surgery on both ankles, though? That has to be a worry for a player of his age.

Suggestion has been there have been a few problems with the way some of our younger players have bulked up, leading to strain on their joints, and persistent injuries.
The second injury was a complete freak that could have happened to any player, indeed, I saw an American Footballer achieve the same injury on Sunday.
And I would move hell and high water to keep Kyle at Saints. Not just for Saints, but for British RL.
I would trade five years of being Wigans bridesmaid again if it meant five years of British dominance on the international scene. Because that is what offers the game long term stability. The British strength thing, not Wigan winning everything.

I agree his injury record is extremely concerning, People didn't like me saying this on the Saints Board but I'm good mates with an ex academy player who played with Kyle and he is less than complimentary saying that he has always believed that many of the injuries he has had are in his head. If it's true it's certainly much more difficult to get over than being unlucky wih injuries.

Which is a shame, because he was a very exciting talent when he first came on the scene.
