Quote ="MattyB"Did not see any trouble yesterday, went to the fanzone before the game and there was a small number of Saints fans mingling outside (Thatto Heath kids were playing a match on a section of the pitch).
After the game we headed into the town centre, plenty supporters mixed no issues whatsoever.
The only bit of potential aggro was when we decided to head home. A lad in his twenties, dressed in stone island made a beeline for my lad (had his Wigan top on), I immediately called him out and was ready for him. He skulked off angrily.... they really are soft as $hite when they are pulled up on their own (I wonder which football team he supported).
How bad is it that you can't walk through your own town centre on match day with out getting abuse from knuckle dragging neanderthals.'"
Pretty obvious who they supported. You only have to look at the cesspit that's Twitter to see the green eyed footy fans out.
Make no mistake about it, yesterday will have been absolutely gutting for the Latics lot.
Not only did they get beat yet again, but the town was absolutely awash with cherry and white shirts. I stayed in the fan village for a couple after the match, so only got into town later, but I've not seen Wigan as lively in a long time. Many pubs had to turn people away as they were at max capacity. I can imagine pubs and restaurants in the centre had a bumper day.
Roll on Good Friday 2025!
