I was quite saddened on reading about this development. Potter was the best tackler I have ever seen, bar none. In the 1980's he was our 'brick wall' in the middle, a mantle that was taken over by Mick Cassidy later. This illness has devastating effects on people. So sad.

Sad to hear, hope he gets all the help he needs.

Absolute rock in defence who went about his business without being flashy, head down did the hard graft and tackled like a machine.

I do remember he did float that pass to John Ferguson for his first try in the 85 final.

Real favourite of mine who would always be willing to take first run from kick off, Mike Ford catch , pass on to Ian Potter. It’s hard to see former players particularly the ones that really put their bodies on the line suffer in later life.
