Quietly confident that this is the start of a good few years as a Wigan fan. Squad looks quite strong and think were in the right hands after the Lam era.

Great interview, he has that great mix of genuine and honesty, along with expectation of the group. I think it will be a great season for us and Matty is definitely the right man for the job at the moment.

His views on the fans and why there's been a disconnect with the fans were spot on. Wigan expect a certain standard of rugby, Lam was guilty of accepting mediocre at times last year and the fans were fuming after his soft assessments of what was plain to see as poor performances.

I’ve enjoyed everything he’s had to say through pre season. This was much of the same stuff he’s been through already but that’s pre season and I’m looking forward to now seeing how he comes across after games, especially in defeat because I felt that was a real weak point for Lammy. He looked lost for ideas and didn’t seem to understand or want to take ownership for any short comings.

Looking forward to listening to this, I’ve always enjoyed the OOYL podcasts anyway.

As above I’ve been immensely impressed with the club over pre season, the whole mentality has shifted back to a winning mindset and a positive fan relationship - a world away from Lam’s reign.

I cannot wait to get back in the DW next Friday and I cannot wait for our game tomorrow. That’s a real marker setter tomorrow, a true test of where we are, where we’re going and if we’re any better.
