Quote ="100% Warrior"I understand Clarke because he’s dreadful. It doesn’t Kilner playing kinda do your own point about young props? I do agree though that our over reliance on young props isn’t healthy and, sadly, about Byrne. Our props are just solid, the type you do need in a team but the problem is they go alongside the big metre eaters and compliment that type and vice versa'"
Unless we sign someone there's not much we can do about relying on the young props though, so adding another into the mix is one of our very limited number of options. I'm not saying Kilner is answer - he's only played one senior game and there must be a reason why the coaching staff aren't picking him but it's puzzling that we'd be happy with 5 minutes of Bullock and using so many smaller back rowers down the middle rather than giving him a game off the bench.
I think Clark is the one who possibly deserves another chance. He was really poor last year but he's not the only player to have a poor first season. He's been kept at the club and only a few weeks ago Lam said we'd cancelled his move to Toulouse because he's needed. He played in pre-season and was actually our best prop on that day. I don't see why we haven't just put him on the bench for a game and challenged him to show what he's got.
I know there's an argument that you don't change a winning team but there are more than enough examples in every sport of teams repeatedly changing a few personnel around every game and still winning. We've looked laboured in several games already this year - our props have rarely excelled and surely it's a case of constantly seeking to improve and putting pressure on players to perform rather than unnecessary tinkering.
