I thought we looked a little livelier when Jake came on last night, his service from the PTB was a lot sharper and wider than either Tommy Or Sam P. and his kicking game could be utilised from that position a lot more than the 2 previously mentioned, it may be just a coincidence but with that quicker wider service George seemed a little livelier. It may be worth giving him a run at 9. Thoughts please.

Maybe I am striving for positives but how nice would it be if he could do what McShane has done and turn himself from a player that looks like an average half back into a very good creative hooker with a good kicking game, he has all the neccessary attributes to do this. The game is full of players who have made this switch such as James Lowes and I seem to remember James Roby and Mickey Higham both playing at Scrum Half early in their careers.
I think he is also a useful goalkicker. We can all dream for him to turn out to be Roby mark 2, it would be a great way to start our necessary rebuild and save us a few bob to strengthen elsewhere.

Good to see the lad back. He has had a terrible time. He was anonymous at Salford last year and I was thinking that he had peaked. after last night I think he may still be in with a chance. He looked lively and was bossing some of the older heads around. We certainly looked more threatening when we were moving forward from the ptb rather than just shuffling sideways. Now that we have given up on tackling we will need to outscore our opponents.

I agree with this. Bang average HB but looks like he could be a livelier hooker, much better than Powell. We need to see more of him before we make a long term decision, having one good game doesn’t justify not strengthening at hooker just yet.

Tough to say Shorrocks is an average anything given how much rugby he’s missed. He did pretty well when he came on but we’d need to see plenty more before making an reasonable judgement.

I agree we need a hooker for next season. I’d be looking at getting Matt Parcell over from Leeds. He was available for transfer not too long ago apparently and his contract is up at the end of the year. He was brilliant in his first year in superleague.
