The point that quite a few of us are trying to make is that in the last couple of months of the season Wigan were very harshly treated by the VR ( and one person in particular). There will always be 50/50 calls to be made by the on-field ref, some of these will go your way, some against. On-field refs will also make genuine mistakes and not spot knock-ons, forward passes, ball steals etc. Again some of these will go for you, some against. On-field refs have to make snap decisions and will understandably not get everything right. VRs have the benefit of numerous replays and camera angles and should thus come to a decision that concurs with the views of the majority who know the laws of rugby. With quite a lot of knock-ons that are given, the ball actually ends up going backwards, but the initial movement out of the hands was forward. Some of these are harsh, but they are almost always given - or they have been in all my experience ( 50 years) of watching rugby.
What has been so galling in both the Headingley game and the Grand Final is that they weren't 50/50 decisions that went against Wigan and for Leeds. The VRs came to a decision that the vast majority of people (and not just Wigan fans) with a knowledge of rugby would disagree with. Were they 90/10 or even 99/1 (Sinfield's at Headingley, McGuire's at Old Trafford)?
One must ask the question why? What is the common denominator? Various theories .....

No, only Wigan fans do that - someone even started YET another thread on Southstander about this board in relation to this thread, without recognising that

1. It's 5 years old.

2. Since it was reopened more Leeds fans have posted on it than Wigan fans.

3. That 53 page James Child thread.

Blame me - for starting it in 2010 and then starting it again 5 years later!
Everyone is entitled to form his or her own opinion about some of the VR decisions the last 2 months of the season. Some might see there is a common denominator or even several.
I said, though, a couple of pages ago it is time to put it to bed.....!
