Quote ="Grimmy"Well currently it goes:
Round 3 (36 teams):
11 Community Clubs who won in R2
23 Championship teams
Toulouse
Lezignan
Round 4 (32 teams):
18 R3 Winners
14 Super League teams
then knockout from there
They could go:
Round 3 (32 teams):
7 Community Clubs
23 Championship teams
Toulouse
Lezignan
Round 4 (16 teams):
16 R3 winners
Round 5 (8 teams):
8 R4 winners
Round 6 (4 teams):
4 R5 winners
Round 7 (16 teams):
2 R6 winners
14 Super League teams
then knockout from there
Let me make it clear I wouldn't want them to do this, but it is a way to restructure the cup so there aren't as many thrashings'"
I too would not want such a format to ever be adopted. It would take away the one chance the majority of semi pro sides get of having a big money making draw. It would also for fans (and players) of the non SL teams have the feel of building to a cup final that never happened as just as they get down to the last two they then get a likely pasting at the hands of of a FT team rather than the big day out and a shot at silverware.
