I think variation in attack is letting us down. Let's face we don't play an offloading game, we play safety first rugby. All the time were trying to go around the opposition, vary rarely this year have we made a clean break through the middle of an opposition side.
This is not a criticism of Deacon or Finch playing together in the halves. But neither of those two are likely to make a break, or ghost through the opposition defense like the other halfbacks in the comp. It's only an idea and probably won't happen, but Mellor might be a better option instead of playing Deacon and Finch together. Joe at least has the ability to break a tackle and make something out of nothing.
Either way Madge for me, needs to come up with another way for this Wigan team to break down defenses. Because we don't always find it that easy to go around the opposition.
Going to France and getting a result is a hard task which has shown over the years, being a first choice prop down didn't help but that's no excuse all credit to Catalan, we couldn't even buy a penalty in the second half through no fault of anyones apart from our own ill discipline and terrible ball handling.
We'll learn from this, Madge will make sure of this.
