=#FF0000Wigan Warriors Showcase Stage – Press Release – 23rd March 2011
Finding Emo to kick start the new Showcase Season”
[size=150“The Wigan Warriors Showcase Stage is set to return again this Friday before the crucial and mouth watering ‘Top of the table’ clash between the Warriors and local rivals Warrington Wolves (KO 8pm)
Finding Emo have been steadily moving along since their very first gig last year - which also happened to be the first Wigan Warriors Showcase Stage of the season and will be welcomed on Friday night as they play the first Showcase Stage of the year off again and hopefully re-create their “[igood luck charm effect” [/ion this season as well!
Frontman Scott Parry had this to say on the upcoming event:
[i"It's been literally a year since our first gig and we were so thankful then to get the opportunity to play our first gig and let people hear the songs that we'd all been jamming for the 3 months previous. This time we're back with 12 months of gigging under our belt, a brand spanking new album and more in the pipeline!"[/i
[i"We love playing the pre-match Showcase Stage because it's always a great atmosphere and we know we're amongst our hometown crowd and though they're there to see the rugby, they're always really supportive of the bands that get up and more often than not, they stick around for a few songs! It's also nice to play at the Clash of the Champions because we love a bit of banter with the away fans! Without a doubt, I'll be wearing my Wigan shirt with pride!"[/i
As well as playing gigs all over the North West , the band have achieved their greatest success to date, reaching the 'Battle of The Bands' Final at 'Stamps/Stamps Too' Bars in Waterloo/Crosby which takes place this Sunday.
[i"We entered the battle of the bands just to get a gig really, we didn't think we'd get through because unlike the local bands there, we didn't really have a following in Liverpool. However, we just kept progressing through the rounds and so this coming Sunday 27th March, we'll be playing in the final at Stamps Too, Waterloo! We're so thankful to everyone who voted us through and it'd be cool to take some of the Wigan fans over to Liverpool and help us to win the final!"[/i
Along with all that, the lads have just released their debut album 'This Could Go Tragically Wrong' for free download via Soundcloud (links can be found on the Facebook page).
[i"We put the album out there for free because we just want to generate a bit of recognition for ourselves and get people listening to our music. That's what it's all about at the end of the day! It's the embryonic sounds of Finding Emo so it's definitely worth a listen and picking your own favourite classic!"[/i
All in all, it's been a busy year for the lads but they're just happy to be back and playing for another home crowd!
[i"Being in a band is so cool! We've got to meet loads of great people over the last 12 months that we wouldn't have otherwise. We've seen great bands at small hometown gigs like The Lottery Winners, who are absolutely amazing and are set for the big time! And we've met people who just really care about seeing the music scene really be built in Wigan, which is important because the bigger the scene, the better the talent that can come through! There are great local people out there who devote their lives to helping young bands like John Kettle at Jaraf House studios, Andy Unsworth who organises the Wigan Warriors Showcase Stage, and people like Chris Wyatt who keeps the Haigh Fest dream alive! Without these people pouring their time, effort and belief into young bands, a lot of us might have given up at the first hurdle. They make us proud to be from Wigan! So here's to 2011!"[/i
You can catch the band playing on the Wigan Warriors Showcase Stage (opposite the South Stand Bar) about an hour before K/O and can find out more about them via their Myspace page at
